Just saying I don't agree with the referees view... What he's saying there is he would only bring the play back if he didn't score. That defeats the object as Garcia getting the chance to shoot in the first place was his 'advantage'blurred wrote:Interesting that you dismiss it as bollocks with nothing to back up your assertion. A bit like Mourinho, in fact. Would you like some fact to go with it? How about the quote from the referee himself? Will that do?boltonboris wrote:Swollocks that blurred mate! Ref played advantage, Garcia got his shot in and Gallas cleared it off the line - You cant bring play back because of a bad finish surely?
Would you like it any clearer than that?Lubos Michel said: “If my assistant referee had not signalled a goal, I would have given a penalty and sent off goalkeeper Petr Cech.”
Put it this way.. If a defender fells an attacker who's one on one with the keeper but he manages to get up take on the keeper get to the open goal and then boot it over the bar.. Do you then bring the play back? or do you say No, you took the advantage but fooked up your chance??

you bring play back having let it develop to see if the advantage was gained, a goalkick is no advantage compared to a penalty and playing against 10 men. Letting play develop can be as much to the advantage of the defending side when it comes to a sending off offence in the box i.e. the goal is as much punishment as they'll get, even though the ref could let the goal stand and send the player off if he so wished.
In your situation you've allowed the offending team get away scot-free when a goal-scoring opportunity was prevented illegally - note "goal-scoring" not "shooting".

So is the Fulham ref who didnt give that goal for them, but NOT the Pompey official!hisroyalgingerness wrote:styles bumped from this weekend's festivities
Daily Telegraph wrote:Styles was not the only figure to be dropped from the next round of games, as the Premier League also removed Ian Gosling, who incorrectly ruled out David Healy's equaliser for Fulham against Middlesbrough on Saturday when the ball had clearly crossed the line.
