Having a memory lapse, but who was the Dutch player who had a bad foot-up tackle ?Harry Genshaw wrote:That was a Kevin Muscat tackle if ever I saw one!

Re: Tonight's Football
What a stupid system.
Once again we are underprepared for a tournament with crazy systems, no consistency and no idea of shape.
Even Southgate talking more sense at half time than this crazy shape.
Get Vardy up front and turn them round. This system has no width is playing entirely in front of Portugal and has two many players all wanting to be in the same role.
You can pick one of Alli or Rooney in this system. Not both.

Well we could just wing it like the last time and hope for the best again I guess....or we could go in prepared and drilled and understanding what we are going to do having practiced it extensively. I know which I prefer...Bruce Rioja wrote:Why would we show our hand?BWFC_Insane wrote:What a stupid system.

You prefer what you want. Has it not occurred to you that Roy (or Woy as you pathetically name him) has watched the players all season and is seeing who can play where should they be required to? No, it hasn't, has it?!BWFC_Insane wrote:Well we could just wing it like the last time and hope for the best again I guess....or we could go in prepared and drilled and understanding what we are going to do having practiced it extensively. We shall see how well he's done his job when the tournament comes round. Just like we saw last time. Hopefully won't be the unmitigated disaster he was last time.Bruce Rioja wrote:You prefer what you want. In lieu of anything interesting happening in the game, I had a read of this:Little Green Man wrote:De Jong - unsurprisingly.TANGODANCER wrote:Having a memory lapse, but who was the Dutch player who had a bad foot-up tackle ?Harry Genshaw wrote:That was a Kevin Muscat tackle if ever I saw one!

Never mind the feeble yellow waved at De Jong, how the juddering ferk are/were World Cup referees allowed mobile phones in the dressing room at half time?

Re: Tonight's Football
You know, B.W.F.Ci, I'm just a bit unsure how you can keep blaming the manager for trying all his options in what after all was a friendly (well, as friendly as you can get against Portugal), his last one actually before show time? Apart from the fact that Portugal are a decent side ( something I mentioned earlier), they weren't there to do us favours. Face it, we aren't world beaters and they'll have to play out of their skins to go anywhere. Even though they had ten men the Ports never let up and we were a bit fortunate to come out with a win. That's the sort of game we'll be getting every match from next week on and I hope the refereeing will be a bit keener on fouls or we could have a tough time. Tonight's team isn't guaranteed to be Roy's first choice and I'll be surprised if Milner is going to figure much. He's a decent workhorse but I think his best days are behind him at this level. Sterling is never a ninety minute man and a show pony and was lucky to escape a booking tonight and I'm surprised he's in ahead of Townsend. Apart from that we don't look bad at all. Gve it a chance.BWFC_Insane wrote:

Well, it seems that's 2 hours of my life that I avoided wasting on the England team by wasting it planning a holiday and catching up on the silly sit-com "Spy". I'm claiming the win
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Tonight's Football
But this wasn't a tournament game, was it? The very idea of a friendly is to test options. Wouldn't you agree?BWFC_Insane wrote:We shall see how well he's done his job when the tournament comes round. Just like we saw last time. Of course pre-season matches aren't about results.

Oh dear, just wait until I see Mrs AT later. Conversation last night...
Mrs AT: Oh, I see Brenda is at Celtic now. That's good.
AT: Well, he wasn't going to get a decent club in England any time soon after Liverpool.
Mrs AT: Why's that? Celtic are very good.
AT: It's a 1 team league
Mrs AT: <indignation> What? They are at least as good as Rangers </indignation>
AT:
Mrs AT: Fcuk off

Re: Tonight's Football
Funny story behind this.. Some lad who lives over there, originally from Glasgow is a Rangers fan.. He works for a paper covering local sports, so Sky sports asked him for some info and for a laugh, he spouted a load of bullshit and Sky sports ran with it!!!thebish wrote:
