Hmmm. Whilst it seems harsh that something he did 4 years ago would have remained hidden had someone not dug it up, and that his explanation that he is now a different person is reasonable, I'm not sure what the FA could do?

Like if you break the law 10 years ago and it comes to light, whatever has happened in those 10 years however good a citizen you've been, usually the police still have to prosecute you in the same way....a poor analogy I know but....
Not charge him? It was 4 years ago. V majority of civil actions have statutes of limitation. Slander (a not completely different issue) has one of one year. Seems ridiculous to charge him with bringing the gave into disrepute for comments he made ages ago when no-one even knew who he was. If they'd seen them at the time, fine, but the fact they didn't seems pretty good evidence to me that he didn't "bring the game into disrepute".
Yes but everyone sees them now.

I think it is a tough one. If they did nothing they'd be bashed as well.

Can't win here.
They're not supposed to "win", they're supposed to get the decision right. If folk want to criticise then when they're right, f*ck 'em.

Good God. Nigel Pearson really is a complete cock and one of the most obnoxious men in football. His post match interviews irritate the life out of me. I'm glad he got sacked by Leicester and that fairytale happened without him. Wanker!

He seems to think he's Brian Clough. Which irritates me as I think he's just putting it on.

I don't disagree ... but what, specifically, brought this one on ?

Id just seen his interview after the defeat to Burton. The arrogant disdain with which he treated perfectly reasonable questions from a journalist. The condescending sneer on his stupid annoying face as he spoke to the guy. 'If that's how you want to look at it..' type responses.
Trying clever responses but without any of the wit or charm of Clough.

Matty Taylor has just scored an absolutely beauty of a free kick for Northampton against MK Dons just now.

And so to tonight's extravaganza. 5-0'clock kick off and Sam's first game in charge. What do we expect?

Not been great this so far. Too similar to previously. Possession but very little cutting edge and look shaky at the back.

Kane, Lallana and Sterling and Henderson for me are way short of ever being good enough to take England significantly forwards. Rose is just uber shite. Mind not like there is loads of choice.

Rooney offers nothing dropping deep. Fancy cross field balls are fine but it's cutting edge around the box that makes a difference.

Henderson is England's very own Liam Trotter.

Drinkwater should be on & Henderson only see the inside of the England changing room if he joins a stadium tour ... or becomes a painter & decorator

Abysmal lack of an advantage there. Ref should send himself off for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity!

Subtracting the divine right to win (which England have never really had since West Ham won the World Cup), a referee who seems to be setting new standards for international full-contact football and convenient vision, a blatant, mindless thug like Skrtel (which he's always been anyway) and a bunch of brawlers that wouldn't be out of place in a John Wayne film, all in all it wasn't bad. I was chuffed with the 90 minute effort and energy from our lads and it was great to see them challenging for every ball. Harry Kane should stop thinking about his hair, I'd replace Henderson with Barkley and if Wilshire weren't such an injury risk I'd have him in like a shot. The rest just need a bitmore time under Sam's management and we might actually be a force someday. I prefer Stones with Cahill and I'd disagree that Rose is rubbish. We still have enough good English players around to forge into a decent side. One up to Sam.... :oyea:
