Mourinho gone from Chelsea

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Holy-moly!

Not a total surprise though - there's been quite a few rumblings from both sides and last night's result won't have helped.

Lee in!

I wonder if they'll try to pinch the Seville manager ahead of Spuds? Or bite the bullet and go all out for Souness.

Sacked for poor summer signings, according to Sky Sports News.

Who'd have thought he'd have been the first casualty?

I really liked him too, he brought somethin different to the premiership.

Shevchenko was a huge waste of resources though.

no chance! We'll just be playing the same footy as under Allardyce!

Anyway it was on the cards for months, especially after Roman's pet striker failed so miseraby.

Mourinho still had three years left on his contract, worth a staggering £6.5m a year, after agreeing a new deal in May 2005.

Sure this will soften the blow

So according to popular beliefs held on this board, Chelsea after this kneejerk should be favourites for the drop then?

Missed this news last night, was alerted this morning by the World Service (they came round banging on the window). Must admit it was a sit-bolt-upright shock, not least as I worriedly tried to remember if we'd referred to him in any of the 98 pages which print today. Although Abramovich has long disliked him, I'm surprised at the timing; who can they appoint? Capello is the best available manager - bar Hoddle  - and although they could afford to simply poach a Ramos or such, hadn't Abramovich been paying Guus Hiddink's wages for Russia ahead of a widely-expected move to Chelsea next summer? The one employee Abramovich can't poach a coach from is Putin, who could very easily see him behind bars or even underground. Interesting days...

My, his first six games have taken a while, haven't they?

Chelsea are set to name Avram Grant as their new manager replacing former boss Jose Mourinho, BBC Sport understands.
The Israeli, who was the director of football, will now take charge with Steve Clarke as his assistant.

BBC, and SSN are reporting him as the 'new' manager, not caretaker
