Re: champions league final
Disastrous tactics from Ferguson but he will get away with criticism because Barca are that good.
As BWFC_I says above, it was an obvious recipe for disaster and maybe his problem was his ego - 'We're a big club, we play the United way' etc.
Barca are that good you can't line up and play your normal game, especially if it's 4-4-2 shaped. Cruyff's been working on how to beat that for 40 years and they had 1-2-3 of the Ballon D'Or (plus Busquets) operating in that midfield.

In terms of fathering surrogate children for footballers following the 'plot' of very bad Arnold Whatsit films, he is behind SKD, but still....

Barca did a Harlem Globe Trotters of a job, but how to combat possesion keeping of this quality? Maybe it's time for a rule change, sort of only so many passes allowed in your own half or something? With money already making the game unfair to a big degree, how long before small, poor clubs are just forced out of it altogether? Time for a re-think in the game.

Jose don't usually do too bad, his players at Madrid let him down this year they won't next time.

How many times have they won it under Fergie?James B wrote:3 finals in the last 4 yearsBWFC_Insane wrote:But considering their resources, their chumps league record ain't all that.

Considering they're the "biggest club in the world".

twice. which is one behind the modern day record of 3 jointly held by real madrid and barcelona.BWFC_Insane wrote:How many times have they won it under Fergie?James B wrote:3 finals in the last 4 yearsBWFC_Insane wrote:But considering their resources, their chumps league record ain't all that.

real madrid emphasise my point really. almost boundless resources and this year was the first time they even got near the final since they last won it in 2002.
in some ways united may be seen as the biggest in the world but in terms of spending/player attraction etc they are really no more bigger than other clubs at the top table of european football and only barcelona have a recent record to overshadow them in the competition (which is no shame).
record of the last 5 seasons.
sf
winners
final
qf
final
so yeah. utter rot.

I backed Pedro for first goal...
Then, during the game, I backed Rooney to score next

I'd wager you don't.James B wrote: i hate united as much as the next man.
In any event, BWFCi is quite right. In Mr Ferguson's 20-odd year reign, consisting of spending hundreds of millions, he's won it twice.
I'd expect more from that level of expenditure and stability. Mourinho's won it twice. Spending less money, and having less time to build a squad that he's happy with.
It just goes to show the advantages of stability and spending lots and lots of money.

To the title or just in your head-to-heads?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
