I'm disgusted with the way this thread is heading. A man has effectively been made redundant here. He was moved into a minor role (which in itself was tantamount to constructive dismissal), I wonder with all the taunting going on, how you all think he's going to manage to feed and clothe his three kids, which doesn't come cheap these days (£7,800 for ONE outfit for the lot of them).

I know LA Galaxy are helping out with the rent in his new part-time job, but how mind-blowingly galling must that be for a man that's been used to supporting his family without any hand-outs from anyone? It's like income supplement payments.
Bobo should have something to say about this.

I realise I'm in the minority here but can I say I actually quite admire Gerard without being banned?
In an increasingly mercenary world of football he's stayed with the same club for 17 years winning everything but the league and being well respected by his peers and football writers alike. He's also captained his country and generally performed well in what annually is a poor team. Good luck to him

Two-footed lunges and stamping a speciality. Plus getting people booked and sent off ... and convinced that HE was the referee in matches, not the guy with the whistle. Plus these past weeks and this weekend specifically, his view that it was all about him was greater than ever. "Stevie Me" was well named.

See I can live with that. I've no idea what kind of chap he is but you'd have to be a bit daft if you didn't recognise what a great player he was imoPrufrock wrote:Cracking player. Wanker of a man.

Re: Liverpool laughing stocks?
I used to like him as a player until he became billy big bollocks and started with all the diving and petulant fouls, went down hill after that!Harry Genshaw wrote:I realise I'm in the minority here but can I say I actually quite admire Gerard without being banned?

Re: Liverpool laughing stocks?
In jumps Ian Wright to say that okay, fair enough, 19year old Sterling has turned down 90 grand a week, but it isn't about money. The lad just wants to go somewhere and win trophies.

Re: Liverpool laughing stocks?
Why not maximise his earnings and have a better chance of winning stuff elsewhere?? He's showing ambition - Which he should be applauded for, regardless of how much the second rate football team he plays for wants to pay him

Re: Liverpool laughing stocks?
Yep. No way it's all about money, IMO, he's just not going to win stuff there!
And, if he's going for ambition he's not going to try to get less money just so whinging Scousers don't feel "betrayed".

Re: Liverpool laughing stocks?
Lawrenson and Carragher have been lambasting Sterling for making a huge mistake and not staying with Liverpool. They also said it was everything about money. I can't remember either of them saying something similar when Liverpool signed three Southampton players before the start of the season. This is what happens all the time.
Why did Suarez leave Liverpool? Was it for more money and to win trophies?

Re: Liverpool laughing stocks?
Suarez left because he was victimised by the malicious British media - nothing to do with Liverpool being bang average and there being a hundred bigger/better teams to play for. Nothing to do with that all

I'm glad you have cleared that up. I presumed it was for the money, trophies and playing for the best club side in the world.boltonboris wrote:Suarez left because he was victimised by the malicious British media - nothing to do with Liverpool being bang average and there being a hundred bigger/better teams to play for.
