Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Auld Enemy night tonight. The Jock will want revenge: Don't forget, we stole Billy Conelly.

Just wish I was up there. The atmosphere will be incredible.
Some of the quotes by Terry Butcher really got me excited
"These games are something special and it will be no place for faint hearts in that England team
"It is the most magnificent arena. There will be a huge noise and great hostility. When I played there in Old Firm games you couldn't hear yourself think or speak. You couldn't make yourself heard to the person five yards away.
"And it will be like this on Tuesday because the Scots have been waiting a long time to get England in their own backyard. Make no mistake, this date will have been marked on every Scotland football fan's calendar since the day it was confirmed. Scotland and England don't do 'friendly' in football.
"It will be manic. When I say hostile, I don't mean physically hostile, it will just be the noise. Wow, I remember one of the most hostile atmospheres I played in for England was against Turkey in Istanbul - this will be Istanbul cranked up another 10 times."
"I've got the ball now. It's a bit worn, but I've got it"

I know it's frantic but Butcher saying it's 10x worse than Istanbul is interesting.

That must but it at nearly 50% of Anfield on one of Alan Green's "barmy European nights!"

I didn't know we were playing them until this morning. Why are we playing them? I'm in Scotland tomorrow so can now expect a tough time of it either way.

Re: Tonight's Football
Bit of niggle but no real fireworks. Naismith and Brown are a couple of cloggers but our lads are doing well enough. Nothing exceptional mind, although Wilshire's doing another good job in the midfield. Goal was a cracker from the minute it left Wilshire's foot, but still needed the good finish Oxlade Camberlian added. Gordon Strachan not looking over happy....

Re: Tonight's Football
that's a good header from Rooney - to get the power and the direction from a standing-start off a ricochet...

I couldn't agree more. To get both direction and power on a ball that came at him like a flash of a spark was absolutely incredible.thebish wrote:that's a good header from Rooney - to get the power and the direction from a standing-start off a ricochet...

How come Raheem Sterling runs like there's something wrong with him? He looks like somebody else is in control of his arms.

That'll have perked him up.Little Green Man wrote:Robertson's having a bit of a mare so far.
Beyond hopeless from Sterling there.
Re: Tonight's Football

Re: Tonight's Football
Good stuff that but I can't help thinking it needed a bit more diving, injury-feigning and referee-berating and a little less tackling.

I thought we played some fantastic stuff in patches. The football for the 3rd goal was exceptional

Re: Tonight's Football
More than once tonight I thought "put some effort in you lazy little fxcker." I know it was a friendly but he should get a bolloxing for his half-hearted display. Their goal came straight from his powder-puff challenge (well, not a challeng at all really) Credit to Wilshire, Rooney and Wellbeck and Milner for real effort. Never a classic but it's always nice to beat the Scots.CrazyHorse wrote:How come Raheem Sterling runs like there's something wrong with him? He looks like somebody else is in control of his arms.
Hope Sturrridge gets fit quickly and then I'd leave Stirling out. Ref let it be a tough game without favouring either side, so credit to him for that.

Watched Cahill in the first half, he's a good player no hoofs up the park from that lad.
Re: Tonight's Football
Thought we were ace. Matched them for the physical stuff and the battling then played through them.

Re: Tonight's Football
We look 10x the side we did with the likes of Gerrard etc..
Been a long time since we have looked so dangerous as a attacking unit.
Some good young players in that side. Glad to see Clyne looking like retiring Glen Johnson from international football.
