Looking very likely now that for the first time ever two Welsh teams will be in the top flight. That'll please Bobo...

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Cardiff Dragons!
Saw some idiot on tv yesterday who was saying it was great because there were now 3 welsh teams in the prem. Cardiff, Swansea and Bale. T*sspot.
Don't know why but that really annoyed me, must be getting grumpy in my old age!

Re: Cardiff Dragons!
Possibly because of the factual inexactitude, what with Bale not being a team and all that implies for the tosspottiness of said statement.PC1978 wrote:Saw some idiot on tv yesterday who was saying it was great because there were now 3 welsh teams in the prem. Cardiff, Swansea and Bale. T*sspot.

Re: Cardiff Dragons!
Complete mismanagement of finances by the management staff, complete lack or control in the boards side. Really poor form all round.
All to blame for equal portions, but the difference is: only one of them doesn't need to answer to anybody

Someone is signing off on those cheques though. If it isn't Tan, then he's appointed someone who has. I doubt that person is Mackay.

Re: Cardiff Dragons!
Mackay has been very quick to take his arguments through the media ... who have lapped him up. He knew he was playing with fire.
Tan is an eccentric and having been a very successful businessman seems to believe he is right in all things. We've met his sort before I guess.
It's clear that he knows little and cares less about tradition having changed shirt colour and badge in the face of huge and quite understandable opposition. what he has done is totally clear the club's debts and provide significant funds. He then sees Mackay buy players of average ability and ... significantly ... little 'big name' kudos. Then sees them perform very ordinarily when he had maybe unrealistic expectations. The blame for not understanding the budget has been given to Macjay's talent scout ... the guy sacked a few weeks ago. It should also fall on the UK based Chief Exec, Simon Lam. He has however managed, so far, to get the responsibility shifted. I suspect Tan has him in his cross hairs though.
Be careful what you wish for when a new guy wanders in to buy your club ... but Cardiff are debt free, have a new stadium and in the Premiership.
Anyway, that's all Eluned had to say on the matter as she was making Dai's bwtty.

Re: Cardiff Dragons!
My post from the Zola thread but on Mackay:
Looks exactly like how I described it.
http://www.theguardian.com/football/201 ... ay-sacking" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;'Mackay'll be sacked for some misconduct allegation, probably based on his forthright words with the media, and they'll bring in some Johnny Foreigner who looks good in a suit and gets a massive transfer kitty to finish exactly where Mackay would've got them...'
Looks exactly like how I described it.
The process of trying to find a long-term replacement for Mackay is under way. The club are sounding out candidates, with Dalman optimistic that Cardiff can land a high-profile name.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the former Manchester United striker who is in charge of the Norwegian club Molde, is one of the names under consideration. Sven-Goran Eriksson, now working in China, has emerged as another option.
You know it's dodgy when Sven's involved... interesting to hear that Craig Bellamy turned down the chance to player-manage the side whilst they sought a full-time replacement. It is believed that Tan is proposing to give the new manager substantial funds when the transfer window reopens, despite telling Mackay this week that "not a single penny" was available.
Re: Cardiff Dragons!
He should play David Marshall up front for a laugh!

Re: Cardiff Dragons!
Did anyone see the news conference with McKay's assistant? He was stuck in front of them like a rabbit in the headlights. It was appalling the way one journalist spoke to him. I'd have thrown the arrogant feck* out myself or at least gone all Joe Kinnear on him.

Re: Cardiff Dragons!
Gotta love the tight purse-strings.
Whenever SG Erickson is mentioned you know there's dirty dealings afoot. He will do nowt without an open purse being freely offered to him (Ulrika imagery is permitted at this juncture).
What he did at Notts County summed the guy up for me.
I also find this Solskaer presumption of greatness pretty mystifying. Hey, he may go on to be a great manager, but it's seen as a given that he will, with precious little evidence for it.
