Sexism In Football
There's been a bit of talk recently about sexist chants from footy fans. Yesterday, the news showed footage from City and United fans chanting sexist abuse at Chelsea's female doctor, as well as lines women. United officials said they will 'report perpetrators to the police.'
The BBC cobbled together an article on the issue: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31765646" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
What do people here think about it all?
Male ref's have been given dogs abuse for years and years, as have the players, the stewards, the fans and so on. Everyone has had to take it. Footy fans don't discriminate, they don't just target women, telling them to get their t***s out. They target anyone and everyone, from ginger stewards, to fat footballers, to dodgy ref's, to players whose questionable personal lives have come out in the media.
So should sexism be eradicated, or should the women just grow thick skins and get on with it like everyone else has to?

Much of what you list is not considered acceptable in the street, workplace, supermarket etc etc, so why it should be considered acceptable in a football stadium is beyond me.
Re: Sexism In Football
So do you think there should be efforts made to remove all abuse rather than just sexist abuse?

Yes. Abuse is abuse no matter the type.

I'm all about equality. Officials should be abused equally regardless of their gender!

I see that the DMB's and Arsenal fans don't come out of this particularly well. Who'd a thunked?

Dread to think what the girlfriends of these cro-magnons are like. If they've ever had one mind. Utter morons.

Just as long as it's still ok to abuse our own.
