Crawley Town
Bought out by a group of people who are going to revolutionize ownership by making money selling jpegs through the club shop… https://www.sussexexpress.co.uk/sport/f ... on-3645244
Another interesting chapter in the ‘fit and proper person test’ begins.

This account is worth a follow - they have listened to the podcast so you don’t have to!
And this Washington post interview “not much of a downside” (if it doesn’t work) - https://t.co/IO6aChTU7A
Good luck Crawley fans!

If they go into Administration at any point and the EFL try to dock them points, they should be dragged through the courts with the financial backing of every single club and supporter of the teams in the Football League

Agreed - it’s one of the stupidest things I’ve seen to do with football. Just been reminded I made this thread by reading about that chap at notts county on the bbc at lunch. Made K*n Anderson look like mother Theresa!

Re: Crawley Town
You probably noticed, but professional loudmouth and sometimes football manager, John Yems was suspended by the club last week for "serious & credible accusations" that he used racist language to players and other staff
He was also asked to pipe down during a press conference after he said that one of his players had "done more positions this season than a porn star"
A tough week for the Crypto Bro's!

I hadn’t noticed - but I wasn’t sure if Yems would be the controversy they craved or a pr headache…probably the latter then!

John Yems - https://t.co/bziHd1YAok
I don’t think he’ll be remembered as one of footballs ‘nice guys’, put it that way…

If half of what's being alleged is true, he won't be remembered as one of life's "nice guys" - he does come across as a bit of a tube.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 8:59 amJohn Yems - https://t.co/bziHd1YAok

I can’t get my head round how what they are saying could happen in the modern day - wouldn’t someone notice and go “errr boss I don’t think this is right??”

Re: Crawley Town
If the allegation that Yems racially segregated the dressing room is true then the issue is that everyone at any football club would have known that. They've put his assistant in charge...how could he not have known?
If one of my gaffers was doing that I'd have known. The chairmen would have known. Everyone in any senior position at the club would have known.
If this ends with Yems falling on his burning cross then it is, ironically enough, a whitewash.
I'm livid.

Re: Crawley Town
You would sort of think it'd be difficult to keep inside the Club as players transfer, too. No one ever transferred out of Crawley and mentioned when their new coaching team talk to them about how they're settling in? I'm very happy here because we can use the same changing rooms?
But yeah, you'd certainly expect others inside the Club would know and probably be stunned if the AM didn't know.
If true, he needs locking up.

That part I find less surprising.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat May 07, 2022 8:01 amYou would sort of think it'd be difficult to keep inside the Club as players transfer, too. Players at this level are usually very quiet about issues at previous clubs, because a lot of managers in the lower leagues view anyone complaining as a trouble maker. Lads who speak out against managers often find themselves unemployed, because blackballing is still a thing in the game. This is especially true in the English game, where managers have way more power than many coaches on the continent.
Also the game is pretty incestuous, so it's often the case that someone on your new club's staff is mates with your old gaffer.
This Crawley thing should see a root and branch investigation by the relevant bodies. It's a chance for the entire game to finally get its shit together about racism, bullying, homophobia, etc.
It cannot be the case that Yems goes and his assistant manager takes over, as if his second in command had no clue, surely.

Re: Crawley Town
It's that third para...the game's pretty incestuous...I might not have given the best example as one of the affected players could've said something (coz yeah, I get why they may not, too)....any ex player could've said something, and probably did, even if it was never formalised.
I mean we often used to have a decent clue what other teams dressing rooms were like in league cricket, how they operated, how they trained etc. I mean an understanding that their opening bowler had run off with their opening batsman's girlfriend is probably going to get sledged. Is why I'm a bit incredulous.
As for the AM, they have one game to play, he's been put in charge for it, in the absence of anyone else. He'd be down the road, Monday for me unless he has allegations of bullying...

Re: Crawley Town
There needs to a be a formal investigation by the professional bodies and I'd be shocked if there were not also police questions to answer.
I've followed, written about and worked in the game for a long time and I've never heard of anything quite like it.
Racism? Yeah. It's disgusting and it's happening less, but it's there. How the hell Malky McKay is still in the game is beyond me.
Segregation? I mean, what the hell.

Agree, mate.
Re: Crawley Town
It did eventually come out from a former player right? Haven't seen anything for how long it's been going on?*
It's absolutely mental. Like jaw-droppingly so.
*Trying to work out why it hasn't come out, not justifying it!

That it's going to lose its mind

Quite. It sounds from reports like it might have been going on a while - I'm just struggling to believe they'd manage to keep it inside the Club, if that's the case...

The Crewe sexual abuse stayed in the club for far longer. This racism stuff came out relatively quickly.

I think there are differences,,,I mean 1) it related to children and 2) (If I recall correctly) it was occurring away from the Club rather than at it?GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sat May 07, 2022 11:40 amThe Crewe sexual abuse stayed in the club for far longer. There were adults at the club who were "concerned" and didn't say anything until it started to come out.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat May 07, 2022 11:44 amI think there are differences,,,I mean 1) it related to children and 2) (If I recall correctly) it was occurring away from the Club rather than at it?
As with Saville, there are usually people who know something is wrong but for whatever reason stay silent. Same with the Ohio (I think?) sexual abuse cases in the US.
It's different, I agree; but there's always a huge incentive for people within companies/institutions to close ranks regardless of the morality of things.
Anyway, there needs to be an investigation to find out who knew what and when. At the minute I'm just aghast.
