Just goes to show; you're only as good as your last game. I think we would have a better chance of beating Morocco than Spain should we get through France. Portugal are on the way..two up against the Swiss at the break. .

Aye, they were great today, never stopping fighting right to the death. I really thought Brazil had it won, but Modrec's marauders thought different. The large lady isn't ready to sing just yet....

Edit...Argentina go through on penalties after their players spent more time on the grass than a packet of lawn seed. Que Sera....tomorrow's atmosphere makes High Noon feel like Play School. ....Pactum Serva..Keep the Faith...TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Fri Dec 09, 2022 9:12 pmAnd now the Dutch have come back from 2 down to extra time...Shock after shock....

I really cannot understand for the life of me as to why they made no attempt whatsoever to carry that momentum into Extra Time.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Fri Dec 09, 2022 9:12 pmAnd now the Dutch have come back from 2 down to extra time...Shock after shock....
If you play for a shoot-out then you really can't have any complaints when you go out.
Really poor from the Dutch.

I was contemplating this. There are obviously situations where you don’t have the energy or momentum to really make a go of extra time and taking it all the way is all you can do. But yesterday the Dutch had both energy and momentum and should have really gone for it.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Fri Dec 09, 2022 10:56 pmI really cannot understand for the life of me as to why they made no attempt whatsoever to carry that momentum into Extra Time.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Fri Dec 09, 2022 9:12 pmAnd now the Dutch have come back from 2 down to extra time...Shock after shock....

If England get into extra time tonight and are caught on the counter I suspect that will be easier to take than clinging on before losing on penalties.

They might actually win, there's alwats that to consider. Who would have thought Morocco would be one up on the Portuguese diving ensemble at half time?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 3:09 pm

Grand counter attacking from Morocco...Could've had more than one despite a great effort from Fernandes

Can't really grumble. Drawn with Croatia, beat Belgium, Spain and Portugal...semis on merit after showing what a well organised team can do.

Re: The Big Shiny World Cup thread
Oh dear. Who would have even contemplated this despite how well the Marocs have played? What a defensive display by the whole Moroccan team. That'll teach Vasco Da Gama for sailing round Africa without paying a visit.. Humphrey Bogart did...

Dutch have a similar record to us on pens as well (and Argentina good). Might as well have a go.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 3:09 pmI was contemplating this. Will I remember Ronaldo for being an exceptionally talented footballer, no I will remember the self important, self centered, arrogant, totally lacking any grace or dignity captain of his country who stomped off in tears down the tunnel. Well accept your career is finished pal because I don't want to hear of you no more!
