Pretty good display. Should've really been a bit more comprehensive on scoreline, but happy camper.

Shame we didn't put some gloss on that one! Hey ho!

Man of the match? BeeversWheaterSpearing
Gonna get boring writing that!
Thought Taylor played well once he got the measure of Ishmail. Ameobi again good, Clough a bit more in it but not motm for me. Madine was shattered when he went off, put a right shift in.

Second one is a stonewaller. First is very soft, but if that's how Niall Maher defends not surprised we let him go. All over the place positionally and an arm over the shoulder. Its soft but he shouldn't have got himself in that position. That plus a sitter each from Clough and Procter and several half chances. Howard made what, one srabe from Danns? Keep Beevers and Wheater fit and we'll be there or thereabouts

Main thing that stood out tonight was Work rate! shadow of the team from last season! I said last season that getting relegated could be a blessing! clean slate! new manger, players, owners and league! the stars are aligning!

Spine of the team was solid tonight.Bury never looked like scoring! Beevers MOTM for me!

Really impressed with Ameobi to.

Superb performance from the team, other than some of Derik's passing. We never looked like conceding with the guys in defence, particularly Beevers and Wheater but I also thought Wilson and Taylor had a good game.

Onwards and upwards.

Was surprised at the amount of Moss Bank Park clogging the ref allowed, particularly first half, Ismail not the least, and I reckon they gained about 500 metres in foul throws too. Seems the game plan was hack Clough to pieces and we'll take a yellow and make a sub. Mind you, Bury, what else can we expect? After going one up we played it right, cautious and waiting for the right moments to break. Looking a much more confident team right now.

Work rate and organisation was superb. It's so important that we keep the spine of the team fit. Wheats, Beevers, Spearing and Madine. They are crucial to what we do.
Cloughie and Ameobi either side of Madine shouldn't change unless we get injuries or suspensions. The squad is the best in the league without a doubt.

Last five results:

1-0
1-0
2-0
2-0
2-0

When did we last keep 5 clean sheets on the bounce?

This little run is the first time we've had five in a row since 2005 under Allardyce.

I agree with everything else in your post but would add that pushing Vela upfield also seems to have a made a difference. As others have said, he puts a shift in and works hard to press the opposition and is much more effective for us doing that further forward in my opinion.

Yes he looks good in that role. Still think on the ball he could do more but is putting a hell of a shift in right now.

I'll tell you what though, Dougie would be chuffed, we look f*cking good without the ball. Feels like "we score, we win" at the moment. Centre halves and Spearing immense but it comes front to back, especially SammiAmmy and Vela.

Two early goals in the last two have helped but don't think we've got out of second gear. I guess the real test to come is 0-0 after an hour and what do we have. Other than Zachinho.

Me too. European nights aside maybe, but easily the best away end I've been in since buggier knows when. I dont have much to offer on team performance tho, except that I bloody love our two cb's... and proctors miss was abysmal!

Great night out anyway, thanks again leverend!

What amazes me about Vela is the upturn in his commitment, effort and work rate from the first 5/6games of the season to the last 4/5 games. I don't put it down to the change of position, perhaps PP has put an arm around him, who knows?

If he can start to improve on that final ball, make the correct decisions and put the right amount of weight on his passes I am sure there will be some Championship suitors knocking around come Jan.

Pushing Vela up field has really helped support Madine in chasing and defending from the front.

Made up with tonight. Bring on Port Vale!
