Re: Hanging on, January Transfer Window thread 2017
Very strange. I think we had this discussion in the summer TW, and the SCMP (Salary Cost Management Protocol) rule, which is effectively FFP for L1 clubs, mentions 24 players for clubs under an embargo. Add Mark Davies, and add back in Keshi Anderson and Ameobi to Iles twitter list, then subtract Conor Wilikinson and you get to 24, so we have been operating with 24 all season. Unless the EFL are not including Davies in the list due to his long term injury? I mean we are presumably still paying him, and paying him a lot, so you would think he would count in any oversight? If it really is purely number of available players, maybe we can release a space for Pratley? Iles does say the rules are "bendy".Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Iles tweets:
Interesting to see that Football League has now confirmed via BWFCST that embargo is "one in one out" at BWFC up to limit of 23 players. My reckoning is that squad (with Conor Wilkinson back) now stands at 22. Whether Pratley injury changes that, don't know. Rules seem bendy.

It surely won't just be available players but I suspect that we get some leeway if we have any long-term absentees.

There's a little more on the EFL's statement to the Trust here:
http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/wa ... t_meeting/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It finishes with:
"The EFL is also monitoring the overdue accounts for 2015 which, it has been confirmed by the club, are still on course to be filed this month via auditors Deloitte."
"This month" is the new "48 hours"!

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

That's that then!
Ameobi also admitted his chance to star for Newcastle had passed him by after being sent out to Bolton last summer.
When asked if he expected one last chance he reflected: “Not really. When it came to the beginning of the season I felt that because I wasn’t involved with the first team and then to be sent out, I thought maybe my time has come.
“I think it was a good thing to go out to Bolton.
“It helped me out, it humbled me and helped me work hard again.
“I’ve done things right and the quality shone through.
“I now have my opportunity and I don’t want to take that for granted at all.”
Ameobi has also thanked Bolton for helping him get back to full fitness and form.

Rafa Benitez believes Sammy Ameobi has 'quality' and can do a job for Newcastle United
He said: “I’m so grateful to Bolton and everything they have done for me.
“I loved it there. The manager and the players - I got on really well with everybody, they really encouraged me.
“But I’m here now, and this is my home.”
Ameobi’s journey from the brink of leaving United for good to a first-team return culminated with a standing ovation during the 4-0 win against Rotherham.
Discussing that reception, Ameobi said: “I didn’t really expect that to be honest - it was unbelievable.
“It was great because it helped my confidence coming into the game and I really appreciate it.
“When you see homegrown players coming through it’s always good for the city.
“They are football-crazy here at St James’ Park so it’s great to be a part of it.
“It’s great and hopefully I can keep them chanting with my performances

Agreed. We've had plenty in the past that have showed potential but then stagnated for whatever reason but probably not getting a run in the team is what does for many. Josh Vela could have gone the same way if Freedman had stayed much longer.Nicko58 wrote:Talk about an exaggeration, I just think that some thought he had a bit of potential. Look down the road at Bury. Circumstances mean they're more likely to throw kids in and see whether they sink or swim. They're just about to sell another kid on for a tidy profit. Some 16 year old with a couple of appearances who Villa are looking at spending over a million on.

Neil Bonnar twunting that if Newcastle's bid for Townsend from Palace comes off then we're back in for Sammi Ammi, who, according to a Newcastle supporting former colleague played very well when he came on for them at weekend.
May the bridges I burn light your way
Re: Hanging on, January Transfer Window thread 2017
The Newcastle Chronicle are also linking them with Swansea winger Modou Barrow (the one we nearly signed). I don't think Sammy is in their plans.Bruce Rioja wrote:Neil Bonnar twunting that if Newcastle's bid for Townsend from Palace comes off then we're back in for Sammi Ammi, who, according to a Newcastle supporting former colleague played very well when he came on for them at weekend.
Do not trust atoms. They make up everything.

Some other Twitter guff linking us with Eoin Doyle from PNE. You may recall he got sent off in December for fighting with Jermaine Beckford (his own teammate).

Duly the main story in the BN this morning. No quotes, but Glendinning (Iles is away) repeats/confirms Nicko58's theory that Sammiammi can only play for us or them.jmjhb wrote:Some other Twitter guff linking us with Eoin Doyle from PNE. Another thought: I assume that forename is pronounced Owen. Owen Doyle...
