Just a point about Baldwin, he actually played 33 games in the league last season, with two goals, with 42 games and three goals in all competitions. Wikipedia player pages sometimes misleadingly represent the picture at a certain date, in this case 16th September 2017.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017%E2%8 ... .C._season

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Baldwin_(footballer)

All of which suggests he is over his serious injury concerns that restricted his Peterborough career in the four seasons before that. I guess what interesting us are leadership qualities, good age, can play a number of positions and presumably he has shown some good ability for our scouts and those of Sunderland to have noticed him. His wage demands might be relatively low also. I can't say I have ever seen him play or noticed him when we played them.

33 league games over a season isn't too bad. He's only made about 100 appearances since he moved from Hartlepool in January of 2014, though. 97 starts and 3 off the bench, as far as the league stats show by the looks of it.

If our medical team think he's fit enough to play regularly then that's something we'll have to take at face value. My Posh-supporting mates view him as a crock and I'll remain concerned about it for now. Glad to see he's done better this season, though. 30+ league games is certainly better than 20+.

Yeah Transfermarkt had 33 games as well and I wondered about it but went with Wikipedia being law like every lazy student does.

This article SUGGESTS three targets for us. Nedum Onouha, CYL and ....
Barnsley striker Tom Bradshaw!

25 years-old. 5ft 10in. 12 goals last season? 7 in league...

One minute after I post the Tom Bradshaw idea and Illes shoots it down in flames.
And Jack Baldwin to boot. Old misery guts.

Apparently fingers are crossed SAmeobi shows up for pre-season fitness training... as an indicator he's considering his offer.

Some promotion odds have been released. Not that they really apply to us.
Oddsmakers must've been reading the Bolton News online...

As far as I can tell Ipswich Town 28/1 Bolton 40/1 and Rotherham 66/1 are the worst three I saw.

Is that the same as saying we are second favourite for relegation? (Somehow 2nd favourite sounds worse when it should sound better)

There's a bit more on odds/bookies' predictions here, mullayo:

Yes, the bookies think only Rotherham are more likely to go down.

Well that sux. What about Wigan and Blackburn? I had Hull and Reading in the mix too.

How did Ipswich work it's way into consideration? Came 12th last year. Lost key players?

I've answered this (or tried to) on the relegation thread.

I love Marc's bright-siding in that article. "Now that Flanagan has signed a two-year deal in Glasgow, Parkinson is understood to be in a good position to move on a different defensive target" - it's a bit "Now my wife has left me, I'm in a good position to eat pizza in my underpants." And as for hoping Ameobi turns up...

Lee Anderson says they never had any interest in Flanagan.

To be honest I'd be surprised if they did. After a few initially promising performances he was bang average at best.

He certainly wasn't playing at the level of his £25kpw Liverpool wage.

Nope. I doubt any Bolton fans will be crying into their beer over not getting him.

Jimmy Pips son, Nat Phillips, current Bin Dippers reserve capt and previous BWFC academy player is available this summer. Only 21, CB/LB and not likely to feature for Klopp.

Building on a youthful approach, same age as Burke. Worth a look?

I didn't hear Nat had gone off to Liverpool. When did that happen?

According to Lion of Vienna Suite: MAYBE SM Caen left back/winger, Vincent Bessat on a free.

32 but a shaved head and covered in tats so balances out.

Nixon talking up a move for Akpan - who's seemingly decided to leave Burton now - while also linking us with a move for Bradford's Charlie Wyke. Is the plan to get hold of folk who've scored against us, in the hope there'll be no-one left to score any more?!

It just may be. I'm more worried that's the full extent of their scouting. A box score. Even I use Transfermarkt.
