Grabbing life by the bullocks. Oxford (H) 17.9.19 KO 8pm
So, who's going?
Can we spring a surprise and keep them down to 4?
Will we find out what Luke Murphy is for?
Will we have any strikers on the pitch?
Is this the night it all starts to click?

Be interesting if we set up a tad more sensibly given we won’t have a striker again. Can’t see anything over than another bumming!

Wasn't at the latest hammering but, although that sounds like a undeniable defensive shocker, if we don't give opposition anything to think about up front, the job at the back is always going to be infinitely harder. How we remedy that with zero senior strikers I don't know.

Has anybody seen Hill's pre-match video for tonight's game? Hill is quite insistent where he is not looking at the scoreboard and whether we lose or not. He says he is trying to get his message across to the players on how HE wants to plays, his ethos. So I'm thinking I'm not looking too emotionally at our scoreboard tonight even when we are 5 nil down again

Only thing (respectfully, of course) that comes to mind is that the players are (in the main) experienced footballers and shouldn't be losing 6-1 etc, more than once if Mr Bean were in charge.Once bitten etc.....but hey, COME ON YOU WHITEStwilight wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2019 4:32 pmHas anybody seen Hill's pre-match video for tonight's game? Does anyone think that the players that he's brought in can play how HE wants to play ?twilight wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2019 4:32 pmHas anybody seen Hill's pre-match video for tonight's game? He (Hill) may not be bothered about the score or whether we lose or not, but the fans do. I know that its very early days and he needs time (and I really hope that we can nick a point tonight), but I'm not impressed one bit with what Hill has said to date in his interviews, I think that he comes across as quite flippant.
Personally I don't think that his recent comments / interviews are giving the fans any hope whatsoever that we can soon be competitive - I hope that I'm proved wrong in a few hours.

I hope he takes a slightly more pragmatic approach to not getting beat too easily, because the optimism and positivity won't survive many lame thrashings. He has form for falling out with fans at Rochdale and Barnsley so it could sour quickly.
We're at home though, fans will be supportive and this could be the boost we need. Let's hope something can be improvised up front and they can dig in and defend and at least make Oxford work for their goals if they do score.

I know he needs time but......
Just because he doesn't conform to the standard boring bollocks most managers spout?
Properly depressing reading some of the replies on here. 1 match in and it's all rearing it's ugly head again.
Doesn't matter where we are as a team or who's in at the helm there will still be those who believe the club/manager owes them something or is compliant to the demands of those who know better.
Why don't we strap in, climb the hill and wait for the exciting run on the coaster that we call BWFC.

I'll start to judge in 6-7 weeks time when our players are up to scratch fitness-wise

I don't think for one minute fans are thinking of tar and feathering any manager ever after the season and stress they've just been through DJB. I think the mood is more that of needing to believe we can win even if we don't and that's what's being said. Counting blessings isn't much a part of any football fan when it comes down to losing weekly and even the most saintly of us don't look forward to any game without dreams of cheering a win. Personally I think Keith Hill may be good for us and a fighting display will be a start even if we don't win.DJBlu wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2019 5:33 pmI know he needs time but......

It's doing my head in that Hill hasn't said anything about Daryl Murphy or O'Grady. Iles says he popped the question but got nothing back. I'd love to have an idea of when they'll be fit!
Have we signed two crocks?

He did say both had freak training ground injuries and they were unlikely to feature tonight.
I'm sure if it was as bad as Brockbank we'd know about it.

9-1 to win at home.
Bookies still don't have faith.
Talk of Will Buckley playing through the middle. Just hoping the defenders know each others names before kick off.

Playing a high line.
Buckley up top as the lone striker.

Good start, Buckley with a cross into the box and Verlinden's shot is blocked by Oxford,
Buckley then had a tame header saved by the keeper.
