Re: Summer 2020 transfers
Can't honestly say I know, but "injuries" would seem to cover it. He went there on the back of getting binned by Bury after an injury and he doesn't seem to have started regularly on the coast.
He's also the sort of player a lot of fans don't like. Simple passes to retain the ball, bit of graft, no flash, no pace etc. Managers like him, as he does a lot of the dirty stuff in midfield that lets better players play. Eyre, Flitcroft and Hill all had good things to say about him - but he got dog's abuse off the fans at all those clubs.
I reckon it'll be the same here. He'll do a job, Evatt will like him and the fans will think he's crap.
The caveat on all that is that I last saw him play about 3 years ago.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers
Don’t know him at all. But he’s a central midfielder rather than a 10, yes? A sentence in Ilesy’s report suggests Evatt “needed to add another attacking midfielder” but Tutte strikes me as a deeper-lying player.
That would mean we now have Tutte and White backing up presumed first choices Comley and Sarcevic. In the absence of Politic to back up a Crawford - who’s barely completed an hour in any pre-season game - then maybe the back-up No10 is Darcy, who is now fifth-choice central midfielder (sixth if Crawford moves back)... but I think it more likely that Evatt might move Sarce forward and bring on White/Tutte to sit with Comley.
Good luck to the bloke, good to get more options, COYWM.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers
As a kid he was an attacking player. I think he basically dropped deeper in his 20s because he wasn't fast and he wasn't all that great technically. Good enough to make it right through the City academy, but not a proper technician. He has played on the wing, notably under Keith Hill for a bit - who we know is always sure he can see untapped potential where none exists.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 8:25 pmDon’t know him at all. Evatt played Hardcastle at 10 in a lot of games for Barrow and I suppose they are similar players. Small lads, no pace, good work ethic etc. It could be that he'd work at 10 in an Evatt system against teams who like to use the ball from deep. Hardcastle, from my limited "scouting" seemed to be moved up to 10 when they wanted to shut down build up from the back. In games where they expected to dominate play Hardcastle dropped deeper and Rooney went to 10. Could be wrong, but that's how I read it.
I don't think the lad has played that position much in the past decade, but if Evatt thinks he can do a job there then I'm prepared to show faith. He did mention scoring goals in his interview, so we'll see.

An average signing which is fine, not every new addition is going to get the pulse racing. Has injury issues which is always a worry but I'm sure during his three weeks on trial with us, the medical team will have taken a close look at him to see if he's fit to play.
I know Morecambe fans don't have great things to say about him but I feel like he could be a solid player if he stays fit. His WhoScored rating last season when played in centre mid was 6.72 and he completed 82% of his passes which isn't far off the 86% completion rate of Brandon Comley who led the league in this last season.

I see him comparable to Jason Lowe in that he's a "safe" player, making those short lateral passes to keep the ball moving. However, unlike Lowe, Tutte seems to have the ability to strike the football well in the general direction of the goal. I mashed up the few goals of his I could find on Youtube and stuck them in a video:

If he does that for us on a regular basis then the fans won't have a problem

Ah, so the Amoateng thing was a youth contract and that's why he wasn't a trialist and wasn't announced. All makes sense now.

He might actually be a second-year scholar. Iles' article in the BN lists him as a first year, but the statement from the club suggests he's a second year.
He's still a teenager anyway.

Jason McAteer gives it his all.
When he does, people are watching.
And when people are watching, one thing he won't tolerate is dandruff.

Reasonably pleased with that. A solid pro with great experience of this league, will work hard and harass defenders whilst chipping in with a few goals. Slightly concerning that our three main strikers have a combined age of 93, hopefully the next signing up front is slightly more youthful (and I do believe there will be one. I don't see Faal as part of the plan here)

He was never very good and he relied on his running...he'll be 33 soon. Even at this level this one feels like, at best, a gamble.
Doesn't strike me as the kind of player who ages well, but maybe Evatt sees something I don't.

You have to assume Miller has been training with us, given that he has gone straight in.

Re: Summer 2020 transfers
Not what I would have signed - he didn’t look like he could change a game when he came on. We need a big, awkward bloke who can hold a ball up and make things stick in the box to change a game, not a short arse.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 2:01 pmHe was never very good and he relied on his running...he'll be 33 soon.
