We knew this. Not scoring the goals we should in too many matches. I could've saved them some time and moneyTANGODANCER wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 9:45 pmInteresting..?

Cam Jerome and Dan should be made honorary citizens of Bolton. It'll be interesting to see who we keep at Transfer time, although yes or no on promotion would have a big say in that.

I have to say that I really would like to get Barnsley in the first round of the playoffs. In addition to us owing them one from last year, they’re in absolutely horrific form and their fanbase seem to have completely turned on the team and manager.

They are the ones you look at as out form, for sure. Lincoln look dangerous and I don’t think anyone would fancy Blackpool either…but that game theirs we could afford to be a bit tighter you would have thought…
Fundamentally whoever we play we will start as a favourites and rightly so.

Of the playoff contenders, Barnsley are the only team we haven't beaten this season.

Er. Could be corrected this next weekend, but we haven't beaten Peterborough either...
Or are you just referring to the teams that could finish 5th or 6th?

Re: The Nostradamus file....
All potential play off teams have a positives and negatives.
Blackpool - well we are useless there. It’s a hoodoo. Beat them at home this season but it was close. I fancy they would be motivated for it to upset us. I do think if we matched their desire and physicality we’d win over two legs. But that’s an if.
Barnsley - Bogey side imo. Forget their recent form. They would go in as underdogs look to nick one off a set play and make it stodgy. They are exactly the sort of side that can do that and are strong enough defensively to make us sweat and struggle and have just enough threat on the counter. Would say that on paper with their form they would be the pick but that goes out the window when play offs role around sometimes.
Oxford - already beaten them handsomely but that means they want revenge. They are underdogs and arguably have nothing to lose. Which makes them dangerous. But I think stylistically least likely to cause us problems and a team we know we can beat.
Lincoln - similar to Oxford. Dangerous because nothing to lose. Will see themselves as having a go at unsettling us. Offer a bit more directness going forward which concerns me more maybe than oxfords better technicality. But we know we can beat them.

If we go in frightened of any of them we'll lose. All about attitude now. Like the song says "Winner takes it all"

Barnsley bin their manager... https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2024/ ... s-departs/
Director of Football Mladen Sormaz said, “Neill has been extremely professional throughout the period with which I have worked with him, he has done everything he can do to push the team in the direction we all want Barnsley to go. He has conducted himself with professionalism and commitment throughout the period I have worked with him. However, with a crucial season conclusion ahead of us, we feel that now is the right time to make a change. We thank the fans for their continued support and urge you all to back the team this Saturday against Northampton. We will update supporters in the coming days."
Martin Devaney will step up the interim period

People said it would be disastrous to sack your manager at this stage with a promotion chance still in play. Let’s see how it works for Barnsley.HMX wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 3:40 pmBarnsley bin their manager... https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2024/ ... s-departs/

Seems like a last throw of the dice for them to save their play-off status.
