Interested to see Barnsley's retained/released list when it emerges. Per Transfermarkt, among those falling out of contact are Devante Cole, Nicky Cadden, Herbie Kane and Jordan Williams. Jamie McCart's also been listed by Rotherham, whence he was loaned to the Tykes...
Maybe they'll all go to Huddersfield, who have just appointed Michael Duff.

Meanwhile, PETERBOROUGH release Jonson Clarke-Harris, midfielder Jeando Fuchs, goalkeeper Fynn Talley and defender Vontae Daley-Campbell have also been released. Transfer-listed winger David Ajiboye, Romoney Crichlow, Kabongo Tshimanga, Kai Corbett, Charlie O’Connell and Aaron Powell. Terms offered to goalkeeper Jed Steer, defender Josh Knight, under-18 player of the season Ollie Rose and teenage attacker Joel Odei-Larbi.

And good news for Prufrock: Orient have agreed a year's extension with Darren Pratley, which will take him past his 40th birthday.

Oxford are known to be very keen on both Kane and Cole if they go up. No idea if they can afford/attract them if they stay down, though.

You'd imagine Cole would be somewhere on our lists too.

I feel like Hudds are in a bit of a mess but that's a good appointment. Another reason to get out of L1.

Cadden seems like the type of player we might be in for.

I'm fairly local to Huddersfield. The reaction of their fans has been, shall we say, muted?

Obviously they're on a really low ebb right now, but this hasn't moved the needle much and it'll be interested to see how that translates in terms of patience.

Quite liked Herbie Kane when we played them in the league, but he didn’t impress when it mattered. Cadden was a good signing 2 years ago. Cole is an odd one. feel like he may be a league one player…

One goal and one assist in 24 second-tier appearances (albeit 16 of them as sub, not always in the middle of the front 3, and most importantly all for a plummeting Barnsley). Also turns 30 next May. Not sure he'd top my list.

He's one a lot of managers will look at and think "I can get a song out of him."

Don't think he'd be first choice for us, but if we started shedding a few I'd imagine he'd be somewhere in the "possibility" mix.

You'd imagine our actual "wanted list" would include players with a profile more like Ty Campbell's.

Our first Twitter rumour would be an ambitious one.

A 22-year-old with ~60 Premier League appearances and 10 games in Europe.

Odd getting these ones coming out when there's still football to be played

He's also an FA cup winner and community shield winner according to Wikipedia.

Leicester forum reaction seems to coalesce around "maybe a lower-half Champo / upper League One player". Most think he's better as a LWB than LB in a four, but there's a few warning notes over lack of physicality. And they really do hate Chilwell.

Most Boro and Blades fans would share that view.

Reading through those Leicester pages you get the image of your usual footy forum. Mostly normal folk, mixed in with a load of people who only exist to moan.

Thomas' development looks exactly like the sort of thing you'd expect. When Leicester were doing well he thrived and then when the senior players went to pot his own form and development dropped off. The dressing room at Leicester supposedly became increasingly toxic and you'll rarely find a talent that will shine despite all that.

He's then gone on loan to Sheff Utd on bad advice, with the hope of doing enough to get a sniff of a Euros spot with England, and walked right into one of the worst Premier League sides of all time. Then he's gone on loan to a Boro side that's been flailing for leadership.

His reputation is in tatters and if we could benefit from that by getting a 22-year-old who was on the verge of an England call-up then we'd be fools not to pull the trigger.

There are loads of possible downsides (which would take a long time to do properly), but the upsides are so good that you back yourselves to get him going.

He looked a real talent when he came through, but haven't seen him in a while. The worrying thing is the fairly universal talk of physically struggling. That could just be versus prem players who are monsters (witness 37 year old Ashley young destroying us last year), but it's so important for us.

Yup. Though as a counter-point to that look at the work we've done with Thomason and Morley on their physiques.

Our strength and conditioning works looks top drawer, to be honest.

Ethan Erhahon at Lincoln is someone I would like us to look at. Definitely Championship-bound, that lad.

They've said this week they expect him to break their incoming transfer record, which is currently £640,000.

Yup. Would certainly go for him over Luca Connell in terms of value.

I just had some major fun with this by texting me son-in-law abut whether he was any good. I won't repeat his answer as there were too many words in there that I didn't understand  but yeah, he's there POTY and apparently destined for bigger things. When he asked why I wanted to know I said I was just curious, and so was Ian Evatt

Is he going to press from the front though? That was one of Stevenage's strengths this year.

Yeah, I saw Gabe Sutton making the same point.

Evans will adapt slightly.

Doyle didn't play in a way that precisely suited Evatt, but he adapted his approach to accommodate a quality goal-scorer.

Would be very surprised if Rotherham didn't now sign some delivery specialists.
