Where's the "Yes, if we can get him for a price we can afford" button. Can't see us wanting to pay more than £3.5million, and even then I doubt we'd have that to spend on him.

Where's the " only if he's on a free" option cos thats the only way we would ever sign him. Saying that he probably wouldn't accept the £300 a week and free membership to Bolton Arena we would offer him as salary anyway.

£300 a wk, come on fanz, play the game.

How much is JJ on, less than 50% turnover on staff costs. You do the math doen't make £300(realistic/negative)

I've said no. Don't think we've got the pulling power to get a guy like this without very negative financial problems coming with it.

One big signings good enough this season.

Lets just keep realistic and not change the winning formulae too much.

It was obviously tongue in cheek but Macarthy is a champs league winner a year ago and is under contract so the chances of us signing him are next to non existent.

So is Diuof all we can afford then? Is that your big signing. Cos we need some fillers to cope with the number of games this season.

IF the board can afford have a go, if not don't panic Mr. Mannering. Plenty of time till August.

You know, if we were to sign a Two Time African Player of the Year with a track record as good as Dioufy's it would be our big signing.

But considering he's just been on loan its being played down quite a bit.

I'd say Diouf was our big signing for the summer, and no I don't think we could get Benni McCarthy regardless of our UEFA cup berth.

When we were first linked with showing an interest in him I thought 'YES' bloody get him.
However I read a few days later upon hearing Blackburn were also interested the player is alleged to have said that he would only be interested in joining Blackburn for one season as he was hoping he'd be able to prove himself enough in that time to attract an offer from Arsenal,Chelsea or mu....So I don't see why we should attempt to sign him as we are too good a team to just be a stepping stone for him.
WE ARE THE ONE AND ONLY WANDERERS,so get over it wolverhampton!!

When given the option 'for a fee we can afford', that implies the rest is 'a fee we can't afford'... which is a nonesense.

I don't want to break the bank for ANY player!

Anyone got stats on his goals per season? Read somewhere he hadn't got that many in 2004-05.

from sky sports.com
Benni McCarthy has confirmed how desperate he is to quit Porto.

The South African international - subject of a failed bid from Blackburn earlier this month - is unhappy at The Estadio do Dragao and wants to seal a move away from Portugal, with a number of Premiership clubs known to be interested.

"Now I only think about leaving and going to England," McCarthy told Abola.

"I am tired of so much ingratitude, so much falsehood and so many accusations.

"If we won matches, Benni was deemed the best; if we lost it was because Benni had been spotted at a nightclub two weeks ago. Who can live under a climate of permanent suspicion like that?

"I deserve to live in peace and it would be best if I could go elsewhere to seek the happiness that Porto can no longer give me."

U gotta love anyone who speaks about himself in the third person...i've sent him a complimentary pass to Jumpin Jaxx to entice him into coming seeing as clubbing is his thing ;)
