English Wanderers

Post by Choppers » Tue Feb 15, 2011 2:55 pm

This isn't intended to be xenophobic or "racist" but it recently occurred to me the transformation of the team makeup.

Under Sam we had such incredible talent as Jay Jay, Campo, Hierra, N'Gotty...I could go on!

Against Everton, our starting eleven was :

Jussi (Finland)

Ricketts (Wales), Cahill (England), Knight (England), Robinson (England)

Elmander (Sweden), M Davies (England), Holden (USA, Scotland born?), Taylor (England)

K Davies (England), Sturridge (England)

It was quite surprising to be honest, Jussi and Elmander aside (and lets be honest, Jussi speaks English better than most English people nowdays) we had 9 English speaking players!

I'm not sure what point I'm trying to make, just that it was surprising to realise. I was told recently we're a team of "foreign thugs". At least one part of that is now DEFINITELY wrong.

When was it we didn't have a single English player start a game?

Wonder if it's anything to do with the new home-grown squad rules...?
I'd rather support Bolton than be you.

Utterly off top of head, I reckons Sunderland away the year West Ham went down. No research whatsoever.

As for current situation. Couldn't give two shits as long as we're winning.

Mostly white too. Should hear the commentary over here.
"Elmander shoots! No, it's Taylor."
"Taylor tackled by... No it's Davies."

Whole new meaning to "You White Men"

Just to say... there is no longer a 'third world' - no big deal, but the designation no longer works... First world - capitalist... Second world - 'communist'... (This is where the designations come from) - 'Third World' - the rest, usually poor and under-developed that the other two competed for...

But I'd also like to know who TANGO's 3rd world best player is...

Mark Davies. He's from the Black Country, isn't he?

Muamba I'd guess. Defo fits the 'classic' description.

wouldn't having a team of englishmen be good for the england team ? anyway the value of english players are better on the market, so we might be sitting on a goldmine.
