Re: New Shirt Sponsor?
Looks nice, that LG mockup. Much better than the current sponsor. Mind, I still wear the new one every time I play football, so I can't despise it that much.
Best bit for me is the badge, and even that can be improved, but it's still my club.

I don't own it, but the new un at least has a handy fag pocket.

Re: New Shirt Sponsor?
Mine hasn't. I think they did away with that when the binned the Tesco-bag stripes.Prufrock wrote:I don't own it, but the new un at least has a handy fag pocket.
Woman on the Tube on the way to Wembley was telling her mate that she loved that shirt (fag packet, stripes) because she could easily fit into a child's size so she didn't get the orange logo. In honesty in looked weird but I think that was the fag packet and Tesco bag stripes. I'd be intrigued to see the current one sans logo.
Re: New Shirt Sponsor?
I prefer the Retro shirts because I haven't been enamoured with any of the designs recently, the new one is a damn sight better than the Tesco bar code and the training bra one though
Pfffft.
Re: New Shirt Sponsor?
That current badge is shit. A truly appalling effort. I'd like to see a return to the previous badge.
Re: New Shirt Sponsor?
The old one was shit too though. Looks PROPER 90s. Old 'un, wi' elephants!

The new badge is a registered trademark, hence the TM at the bottom of the spunk dribbles. That's how it'll stay. You're going to just have to get used to it.

Surely we could just register a new trademark? Both United and City have redesigned their badges in recent times.Bruce Rioja wrote:How many times?BL3 wrote:That current badge is shit. A truly appalling effort. I'd like to see a return to the previous badge.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Doesn't mean there's any evidence whatsoever of a willingness to change ours, mind.

Is that to make sure they shoot themselves in the foot every season?Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:And Arsenal, turning the gun the other way round.Lord Kangana wrote:Surely we could just register a new trademark? Re: New Shirt Sponsor?
Yes. The person who designed it was a professional illustrator i think. It was a fantastic badge and a very underrated piece of design. As far as i'm aware, BWFC owned the rights to it so why we ever got rid of it i'll never know.Bruce Rioja wrote:Didn't it win a competition in 1972 or somesuch?
Re: New Shirt Sponsor?
Totally irrelevant. Chelsea's previous badge was also trade marked. It didn't stop them changing it when the supporters put pressure on them to bring the old one back.Bruce Rioja wrote:The new badge is a registered trademark, hence the TM at the bottom of the spunk dribbles. Exactly! Back to one with an elephant and Lancashire rose. Represents us then rather than some shite to look good on some headed paper.Prufrock wrote:The old one was shit too though. Looks PROPER 90s. Old 'un, wi' elephants!

Re: New Shirt Sponsor?
Interesting reading the points about the Wanderers logo. As it's my line of business, I can tell you the badge can be changed anytime (TM only means it's registered as the official logo for BWFC) and the board can have the final say on any future changes. Cost would be immense to change the logo to rebrand everything - that's probably why it isn't done often. Personally I agree with some comments in reverting to possibly a 'modernised' version of the 50s badge. Should be classy and traditional relative to the club's established history but appealing to a current fans, especially younger people - not looking like a London 2012 icon reject, as the present current badge looks like. Maybe we should have a comp to create a new design and get the members to vote (if it hasn't been done already) and forward the idea... Or maybe I'm getting too carried away with this!
Re: New Shirt Sponsor?
Coz it was shit. Looks SO dated. I'm not sure what's worse, the awfully kitsch old badge, or the marketing hodge podge we have now. Fook how much it costs, this should be the badge, and the kit should be all white, with, at most, a navy trim.BL3 wrote:Yes. The person who designed it was a professional illustrator i think. Re: New Shirt Sponsor?
I like the all-white kit.
But my understanding is that its first run-out was in the seventies. Our traditional colours are navy shorts and socks.
However, I really like the all-white, and would advocate it.

Re: New Shirt Sponsor?
I don't know why I wrote 'kit'. I meant 'shirt'. I liked the all white thing, but navy shorts just feels more 'us'.

Nah. Bolton Wanderers is white shirts, navy shorts, white socks. All white was a nice change, but I'm happy with having navy as our definite second colour.
