Re: Jussi Jaaskelainen to leave BWFC
If Al Habsi has managed to nail down his place to such an extent, and we're still in the Premier League in 6 years, it really won't matter.CAPSLOCK wrote:Sell Jussi and next problem will be keeping Bogdan happy
If you're right that Ali has 6 years, Bogdan won't wait that long
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

yeah.. but you know CAPS - he's just a born worrier!
Re: Jussi Jaaskelainen to leave BWFC
It pains me to say it but I think the time is now right for Jussi to move on, with Ali taking over as number 1 and Bogdan on the bench. Jussi has been a fantastic keeper and on his day is as good as anyone unfortunately a few too many errors are starting to creep in.
Jussi for another 18 months or Ali for another 8 years?

I feel reborn !!!! No more confussion
Re: Jussi Jaaskelainen to leave BWFC
Jussi to leave because we've got an abundance of quality? No thanks. He's been a great servant to the club an hopefully we've treated him like one. I. Don't think he can consider his position to be his alone as we've got to have a transitional phase sooner or later. But should he want to stay he's more than welcome to as far as I'm concerned. Goalkeeping coach anyone?

That means asking him to retire from football and take a drop in wages when he feels he isn't ready too quitMar wrote:Jussi to leave because we've got an abundance of quality? No thanks. That would be lunacy asking him to retire and quit football. What i'm suggesting is start taking up the responsibility of bringing through the next set of talent that will carry on his legacy at the club. After all when Jussi retires it would still be nice to see him around the club and town as he's been quite an integral part of what we've been trying to achieve for the past decade.
It would be nice to see him and Gardner at the club every now and again after they retire. It's always a pleasure to see Bergsson and McGinley coming back and Gardner and Jussi are no different.
I'd like Jussi to stay, I have a feeling however he might be eyeing up the vacant role left by Edwin Van Der Sar (which I wouldn't blame him if he wanted to be at United so he could try for CL) but I would love Jussi to come back to the club in some form or another.
For next season, it's Jussi keeps his number one spot. Al-Habsi as number 2 and Bogdan out on loan. We need to know if Al-Habsi will come good for the club on a consistent basis. Guess we'll only find that if Jussi starts making mistakes, fingers crossed that won't happen. Doubt we can afford another season with Al-Habsi away.
It's a tough call that Owen Coyle has got but i'm sure its one that many managers would love to have.
Re: Jussi Jaaskelainen to leave BWFC
If Jussi goes to ManUre I wouldn't begrudge him, Ali has to be given a chance or personally I think we could rue letting him leave on the 'cheap'
Pfffft.
Re: Jussi Jaaskelainen to leave BWFC
I doubt ManU will be looking to Jussi to replace Van Der Sar....
I also suspect that the grass has grown a bit under Jussi's feet - he's comfortable at Bolton - does he really want the challenge of proving himself all over again at a new club?

Re: Jussi Jaaskelainen to leave BWFC
A lot of players like to return to their own country to play a final season or two. Unfortunately Jussi is Finish, and probably has no interest to play there. His club is Bolton full stop. Still these types of decisions must be made by clubs every year. If we make the decision to let him go, I hope it is done with a bit of class.

He becomes a British citizen this year. He's been here five years, biding his time. Hard to twiddle your thumbs in goalie gloves...CrazyHorse wrote:Hasn't Al-Habsi qualified for a British passport now?CAPSLOCK wrote:DSB...wouldn't Ali have to re apply for his work permit

get lost keep jussi. not all his fault. our defence and mids are responsible 2
Re: Jussi Jaaskelainen to leave BWFC
I haven't blamed Jussi much at all this season as he doesn't deserve it - I just feel it could be time for Ali to come back and be number 1. We'll see how Coyle approaches this situation.
