It has to be something that will work on the terraces. It has to be Ben E. King - Stand By Me. Simple and would definitely fit the terrace criteria of nto being complex.

Love the song but not as an anthem.
I agree with an old song that everyone knows, but stand by me is more a ballad with not enough beat with the terraces to keep going.

Is this thread a wind-up?
We seem unable to sing any song since we moved to The Reebok!
Perhaps we should practice the basics before bellowing out an anthem!

And as such, I refer you to Bish's post:

Ah, I don't know that they do, but if so then there is a link.

Pistols' last ever UK gig before the ill-fated tour of America was at Ivanhoe's in Huddersfield. (just by the ringroad - I could take you to where it stood).

what - errrr... let me think.... like - errr...

I know!

how about a guess the surnames of the squad competition before kick-off?

we could shout out the first names on the team-sheet and see how many of them the fans who aren't still outside queuing to buy their merchandise in the shop can remember (without looking at the programme...)

oh... does someone else do that already??

This is my (earlier) point.
If we can't even sing/get fired up, how on earth can we even contemplate taking on an anthem?

All you have to do with an anthem is play it. You don't even have to sing along with it.

It's like "the liquidator" at Chelsea, they just wait for the right time and shout Chelsea. Or "glad all over" at Crystal palace where it's mainly about stamping your feet.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

You think we could manage something like that?!
We struggle with the "CHEAT" chant when aided with drums! And this is only one word:roll:

If i thought everyone would sing along - an anthem would be a great idea. We need something

On a slightly related note, i wish they would get rid of that 'i just can't get enough' when we score - s'alright I suppose, but I'd prefer it if they went back to James Brown 'I feel good'

You may recall I had a prolonged internet "discussion" in another place with someone who thought that singing Amarillo made us look petty.
