He made his debut for the first team on 22 September 2010 in their defeat to League Two side Northampton Town in the third round of the League Cup;[12] Northampton winning 4–2 on penalties after a 2–2 draw.
He made his first Premier League start on 27 February 2011 at the Boleyn Ground in a 3–1 defeat against West Ham United.
On 2 April, he replaced the injured Daniel Agger during the first half in a 2-1 defeat away to West Bromwich Albion.

dunno about you - but any defender that has been part of a losing team - not good enough for us - we should be aiming higher...

PW, have you ever seen him play? If so is he good? Why do you think he would be a good signing?

Yobo's 31 this September, apparently... has been a good player but presumably on a wide wedge – if the School Of Science are flogging players to "fund" incomings, that either means they want significant earners off the sheet or they want a decent fee...

Really sorry to see Ricky go. He's been a great servant to Bolton, albeit unlucky with injuries, and I'd like to have seen him see his career out here. Popular, easy going lad, never seemed to upset anybody and, when on his game a very good player. Wish him the very best of luck and I doubt many will feel differently.

Im quite surprised he has been released, and as you say, a very good player on his day, can play in several positions and i doubt that he was a top earner at the club.
Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
Same here. I don't think anyone can give Gardner any hard feelings at all. Can understand him not wanting to be a bit part player here too. A very good player and good servant to the club. Glad to see we gave him the chance to stay. And best of luck to him-even at west ham!TANGODANCER wrote:Really sorry to see Ricky go. Think we were linked with him last summer. Tranmeres Dale Jennings is available for around 700k. A younger version of DJ Campbell?
I expect i'll get dogs abuse but could players like him could represent a more viable model for us than trying to take youngsters from barca.

Dog's abuse?? No, dog's abuse is what I got last close season when I suggested buying DJ Campbell. Seems there are very few on here now who are comparing him to Kazim Richards 12 months later.
Frankly, I'd piggy back Campbell from Blackpool if it meant we didn't spunk 5 million quid on that serially under achieving tosser from Brum. End of rant.
To answer your point, we have enough of our own young talent who can't get near the first team, why buy more?
