RIP Jack Chapman
Former chief scout from the early Prem days has passed away. Hired by Big Sam in 2000 (at the age of 70!), served with what you might call distinction considering the players we signed thereafter. Allardyce upon Jack's retirement in 2006:
RIP Jack. When people talk about the greats that have represented this club, in my opinion Jack Chapman should be up there with them. He has been the most integral person at the club during the six years I have been here. He is responsible for discovering the many players that have turned this club into a top six team in the Barclays Premiership that is envied across Europe. To fill Jack's shoes is going to be very difficult. He is unique and by far the best in the business.

Re: RIP Jack Chapman
RIP. If you look at the signings we made during his tenure, it's obvious he played a massive part in taking the club as high as we went.
Oh, to have a chief scout like him still!
