I don't even know what he means by 'balancing' the team. If anything, the squad is very well balanced, it's just we've got a load of shit like Alonso and Mears who we just need to get rid of.

If you call having a bunch of "flair " players and hardly any gre=afters balanced then maybe we are. We were playing right backs at left back a few games ago and have a wealth of strikers who cant score regularly, two of whom look a bit lazy and can t be arsed.Oh and a young keeper who despite doing well in his last game hasnt got any real competition available at present.
Plenty to sort out in IMO. It only looks a bit more balanced because the new manager is now using a system that suits the players the previous manager signed.

As we heard from our Palace friends about Dougie, he is very fitness motivated unlike the nice man who bit off more than he could chew. Could re-shaping not also mean getting them into shape physically aswell as organisationally?

Because Riley has been getting torn a new arsehole on occasion for the u21's.

He did and I don't thank him for it. But I do feel sorry for him as he was a nice chap who thought as much of the club as we do. He just couldn't cut it managerially and couldn't see what was wrong. Terrible failings for a football manager I know, but the desire was in him.

I know he's no Pele, but Mears is bloody awful and doesn't seem to give much of a toss to me?

Sam Ricketts does indeed seem to organise the team..When you play at the back its an advantage as you get an overall you.

I thought he seemed much more up for it/confident on Sat than he has done for a long time.

Play Alonso, there is a player in there screaming to be given a run in the side.

I'm sure he really wants to play. Only problem is, that no right minded person would want him to.

 When we signed him Coyle described him as "the future Spanish international left back"

I doubt he'd get in their under 8's......

He's not a left back.I dread to think how quick he will be when he gets older. He's already about as pacy as an early 30s campo.Maybe coyle was playing with the speed on his you tube app and forgot to switch back to normal when he was scouting. Signing alonso (future spain lb) was a bit like the americans buying London Bridge.

I guess I'm in a seriously threatened minority - but I don't think that Alonso's as crap as people make out... he looked better when he had a couple of games in a row - a luxury he's hardly ever had - but then got injured again... he has had some decent moments in a white shirt... and not much time on the pitch to establish himself..
