Spearing will end up back here I think.
Season loan with a view to a deal at the end of the season.

Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
A deal not benefiting Liverpool, if his contract runs out then. They'd lose his wages (in part or toto) but not get a transfer fee. I'd imagine it's far from their first choice, and therefore wouldn't happen until late next month, at which point we may have decided we're alright without... or have spent our cash elsewhere.ChrisC wrote:Spearing will end up back here I think.

Perhaps a lot depends on how we stand with Holden, he never did find that pen.
Re: The "Nothing to see here"Transfer thread
I can't see the Spearing loan working. Would have to be a largish loan fee to get Liverpool to agree to give up the transfer fee as he'd be free next summer. If we paid such a fee we'd risk it being for nothing as he could sign for somebody else rather than us at the end of the season.

Hmmm, he was very good, I'd go for Southall though as the best I've seen in my lifetime.Bruce Rioja wrote:Peter Schmeichel is, IMO, the only 'excellent' goalkeeper I've seen in my lifetime: so far anyway. Are you familiar with him?

A point per a game would keep you up in the premiership most seasons, the championship a bit less so.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:You're obviously as bad at maths as you are at English languagebwfcdan94 wrote:Not true either.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:If you don't score any, nor concede any, you're relegatedBruno3 wrote:as is the fact that not conceding any goals will get you promoted

But yeah, agreed on it being a shit strategy.

If " seen in my lifetime" is the criteria, then Gordon Banks and Eddie Hopkinson. Always admired Brad Friedel too.

I suspect so. Not in the same class as Schmeichel for me, who is by some distance the best keeper I've seen.Bruce Rioja wrote:Southall that played for Everton? Still honoured to have watched Shilton play in a Wanderers shirt at Molineux, and watch Bolton get out of jail. Incredible how long he played for .TonyDomingos wrote:And Peters Shilton and Bonetti.

Seems folk are confusing the solitary element of shot-stopping with the overall skill of goalkeeping from what I can see, Worthington.Worthy4England wrote:I suspect so. Great, I quickly log on from my poolside lounger, at great expense, to garner the latest in & outs - only to find a list of all time reasonable goalkeepers. Ffs dougie

QPR are looking at Celtics Gary Hooper, cheaper than Jordan Rhodes and arguably as good infront of goal as him aswell
