no - I have not suggested i want to buy a new defence at all in this thread!!

all i am saying is that your terms rule out buying a new defence - but they don't rule out buying a defensive coach. so, strictly within the terms of the original post - I am suggesting buying in a defensive coach!!

blimey - that was a lot harder work than it ever should have been!!

is it not the case anymore that if we simply drop bogdan and play Lonergan, everything will be OK?

Ah then I didn't get you then, but do now!

In fairness I think what you wrote was unclear! It still reads to me as if you were saying the terms were themselves strict!

Keep up. Drop Knight and we'll be OK. What we mustn't do is drop Pratley. I think.

And anyone who thinks we have that second link in the chain (you know the one that gets the ball and bangs it in the net), is completely barking.

And Bogdan's kicks barely go beyond the half way line.

Bogdan

Riley Baptiste Knight Tierny

Ream

Medo Spearing

CYL Eagles

Beckford

That's good, and progress of course. But how are we going to persuade the opposing team to field no players?

bogdan - keeper
mears - reinstated as RB to provide a more natural attack threat & has good link up with eagles
knight - I know but don't think he's as bad as made out
mills - want to see this guy given a run.
tierney - thought he's looked promising
eagles - wide right
spearing - CM -more defensive of two
pratley -CM - licence to push forward
ream - left mid. being naturally left footed will help & given tierney is quite good getting forward will provide defensive cover
ngog - target man, first line of midfield defence
beckford - got to run the channels/ find the space/ score the goals

thats it. must admit I'd prefer more the barca press rather than the rorkes drift seige approach in a tactical sense - basically impose ourselves.

ok a few problems

ream is not a left mid however you look at it

beckford cant run both flanks while finding space and scoring goals ( cristiano ronaldo would struggle)

I don't know.

I think we're doned.

The only change I want to see if Mears in at RB and Baptiste replacing on of the CBs. It may or may not work, but it's worth a shot.

why don't we ask Bruce rioch back as an assistant to Dougie, then buy in a forward coach who is excellent and central midfeild chance creation and then get ourselves a defense coach with some real quality and experience to help the manager get the most out of our lets be honest strong underachieving squad.

i personally would try to get Phil brown (it'll never happen) back also as anything except manager.

I can still see us challenging for champions league and shaking up the big teams with a low budget high work rate /self belief squad.

but im a bolton fan for the most part i have to be a dreamer^^
