Hope we get to find out what the fee is this time. Undisclosed strikes me as us being embarrassed at our negotiation skills.

I'm confident we won't miss the useless bastard. Joins N'Goggers on the 'thank good we got rid of that tart' list.

Yeah, because you must have seen him play at least 2-3 times!Prufrock wrote:I'm confident we won't miss the useless bastard. Joins N'Goggers on the 'thank good we got rid of that tart' list.

For a central defender Ream got muscled off the ball far too easy and his heading ability was lacking. Paul Jones could play a bit in his prime, Ream is now't like him

Decent, trouble & tantrum free, utility player who is a sort of nearly man not being great at any position nor crap either. Possibly suffered due to his flexibility.
Thanks are due .... but no tears. ... & his wife is fit too.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Poor Nando's.

Re: If carlsberg did transfer threads.....This would be it!
If NL gets the dosh, think of it this way..
If we had 2-3 million to spend at the beginning of this window, would anybody on here want us to spend it all on a defender? Only a half decent one at that? I doubt it.
The money is good news for the team if we can spend it. Another big earner off the books and we can all hope for a goalscorer to come in and challenge Madine at the cross bar challenge

Ream seems a nice bloke to have around the club, and a pretty good player, but no better. Huge stroke of fortune that we could get over a million for him IMO. Just a shame he didn't score a goal in his 112 appearances.

Not sure why we want to cheapen the value of our own players. Do we have some sort of inferior complex? Tim Ream has been our player of the season twice, yet there are some willing to give him away for little or nothing. Didn't we pay 2.3 million for him to an MLS club. Why should we take less for him now when we have developed him and helped to make him more versatile, able to play comfortably in 3 different positions. It would be a huge loss to us in my opinion and will miss his versatility. So pay us what he is worth which to me is no less than 2.5 million.Vertigo wrote:Ream seems a nice bloke to have around the club, and a pretty good player, but no better. Sky are reporting that we have agreed a £1.4m fee with QPR.

1.4?? We turned down 1.75 by all accounts! Unless it's a down payment with add ons.

I'd say it's 'cos we're beggars rather than choosers, but we always seemed a bit poo at it even when we had (some) cash.throwawayboltonian wrote:why are we so damned poor at selling players?
Anyway, as this thread is about to hit 100 pages, anyone care to list the ins-and-outs for the window thus far? Personally I'm not too disappointed with any of the departures – I'd've loved to see Luke Woodland, Chris Lester and Georg Iliev flourish, but as their wages can't be an issue we have to accept the youth coaches' decisions on this sort of case.

Some sources stating Ream was on 20k a week. Presumably, we won't be paying up his contract so that's a huge amount in wages gained.

Re: If carlsberg did transfer threads.....This would be it!
There's a link here to the Daily Mail (sorry) from when we were signing him. Says we offered Ream £20,000 a week, which was 30 times his annual $55,000 salary in the MLS.Bijou Bob wrote:Some sources stating Ream was on 20k a week. It's possible that we didn't offer him that ion the end; it's possible (but improbable) that he took a wage drop when we gave him a new three-year contract last summer, a year before his deal ended; it's possible that the original Mail story was bollocks. But £20kpw is not an exceptional Premier League wage.

Forgive my ignorance, but why wouldn't we be paying up his contract?Bijou Bob wrote:Some sources stating Ream was on 20k a week. Presumably, we won't be paying up his contract so that's a huge amount in wages gained.
My underastanding of this, is the club 'owe' him nigh on £2m quid and QPR are giving us the opportunity reduce that to £600.00
