Re: Lennon out!
Well you would have a case for constructive dismissal. All depends on what his job actual entails contractually. I did consider that which is why I specified not sacking him but appointing someone else to be a Mr Motivator role, much in the way other managers have done with the psychologists they appointed (not to name manager names of course).Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Constructive dismissal, that, surely?Mar wrote:Not entirely sure its worth sacking him but certainly appointing someone else to give the team talks and the motivational speeches might be worthwhile.
Guess it depends whether Lennon is the man wanted the new owners. If we get new owners...
What would it take to sack Lennon without the payout? It's not like he's been doing a great job and being really well publicly. He's had a succession of bad scenarios play out over the past 12 months and in any other industry would probably have caused him to be sacked months ago and yet we persist. Mitigating factors perhaps but surely the club SHOULD be able to do something to raise spirits.

Aah! This was the one I was talking about in spotty,s pitchfork thread! Knew it would raise its not so pretty head soon.....
Re: Lennon out!
More than results I'd have thought. He's been misled and probably blatantly lied to. He should be sacked on results, but not without his contractual compensation (unless his shagpiece gets him in trouble with the fuzz).Mar wrote:Well you would have a case for constructive dismissal. Re: Lennon out!
It doesn't work like that though does it? Long term planning in football on the field is bollocks because after a few bad results the plan gets thrown out of the window. Coyle and Gartside agreed on a long term plan when we came down (Old shite + Big contracts = Profit) and it lasted 10 games before Gartside potted him.BWFC_Insane wrote:We need to start planning. Phillips knows the young players better than anyone.Tombwfc wrote:Even if you think there are no mitigating circumstances at all and he is pricisely as bad as his record would suggest, why sack him now?
Nobody will be enthused by Jiminho's capabilities to get us back up if he first has to preside over this mess for the next 20 games. Better to let Lennon take the flak then start afresh in May.
However nobody is going to sack Lennon because the club ownership needs sorting first.
All giving Phillips the job now would accomplish is tarring him with failure before he ever gets a fair crack.
Re: Lennon out!
What age does Jimmy work with on a daily basis? Do the u21s come under his academy remit? I imagine brunskill knows best the ones who would come into the team straightaway. He might be best left in his current position though if that's his specialism.
Anyway didn't someone say Deano was bringing Sunbed Brown with him? Problem solved, with a bit of karaoke thrown in.

Aye but circumstances are different now. I don't see him being a long term option but he club may need a stabiliser and we may be primarily working with players Jimmy has worked with and brought through. Likes of Zach Clough really like Jimmy.throwawayboltonian wrote:To people saying Jiminho: he doesn't want the job. He didn't want the job when Coyle left, and went publicly on record (if I recall correctly) about not wanting it when Freedman left. Admittedly he might caretaker for a while but he's never wanted the #1 spot.
@LE: His actual role at the club is listed as head of youth development/academy director so I'd imagine it's primarily U18s, maybe the dev squad at a push. What it actually entails - whether coaching or more administrating - I don't know.

Scored a belting equaliser against Birmingham at home too , pretty expensive one though by the look of it!plymouth wanderer wrote:Andy Waller wrote:midlands exile wrote:Robbie Blake - shudder to think of the size of that contract...thebish wrote:who was that player we paid cos he was a right larff in the dressing room??

Actually, not bad by more recent standards!
Re: Lennon out!
I'd guess Elmander cost us the most per goal of any of our strikers. Net £8m loss on transfer fee and big wages for at best decent goal return.

Elmander's goals per game ratio was top drawer, along with his appetite to get stuck in....throwawayboltonian wrote:Wasn't even that decent IIRC; think it was 18 in about 95 appearances. Has the useless cnut gone yet - what's that now 2 wins in 34 / 35 games, he must be so proud....
He's said tonight that our problem is inconsistency - what a load of absolute shite, we are the most consistent team in the league - consistently disorganised, consistently leaderless on the pitch, consistently ill disciplined, consistently talentless, consistently useless & shambolic, consistently spineless, consistently utter shite coming out of Lennon's mouth & more importantly consistently not winning.

This is the most pointless thread on the internet. Lennon has literally got the safest job in world football.
