I’ve not watched us stride round the pitch in pure men v boys fashion on opening day for a long time! Santos , Iredale, Sheehan and Dempsey all superb.

Thought we were excellent today - very professional and well-drilled. No bad performances in there at all I don't think.
Lincoln were shite though.
Shouts out to Santos (again!), Iredale, Williams and JDC
Also - were Lincoln the softest team every to grace the Reebok, or have we developed a bit more grit and aggression the summer? The amount of time their players were on the floor whingeing was ridiculous.

It’s the way to start the season that. You can always pick holes in a performance and no doubt Evatt will (and is judging by post match) but we looked good all over. I still have reservations about the front two together but we have options there to try things out and no doubt understanding will build.
Too early to get giddy or concerned though. First result always critical and we are away and off the mark.
I hope the set piece quality is maintained because that will make a big difference.

Imagine a team losing 7 -0 and not being bottom of the table at close of play.

That was a good start.
There's loads we can improve. The intensity still dropped off after 30 minutes and that can't happen. Some of the pass appreciation was miles off at times, but that'll come with games. When the subs came on we lost the rhythm that had let us dominate them and it got too transitional.
The fact we were that dominant and can still obviously improve should give us hope.
We went through a period last season where we had a similar opportunity and we didn't kick on for various reasons. This time I think we will.

Happy with that start. Not sure, even last year, it was about whether we can be very good on our day. We can. More about can we be good on more days than last year. Onwards!

Great result & a decent performance considering it was the first game - I thought one or two looked a bit rusty (especially Charles), set pieces a lot better.
Dempsey was excellent, Williams much improved.

Another thing that is obvious is that JDC wants to cross the ball and early. He put a couple of excellent ones in not least the one Williams really should have scored from.
Delivery that we never saw from Bradley. And he clearly wants to whip it in early rather than get to the byline and pull it back all the time. Which is good. We don’t want to only do one thing. His delivery will make us harder to play against.
In pre match Marc Iles said he believes Evatt wants a new MJ destroyer type and a RWB. Which sounds about right to me. Get those and we can be very good. I like the look of JDC but still think there is a more ‘flair’ type out there that would help us.

Absolutely delighted with the performance and result. Being a trifle nitty, I do want to see two headers and an own goal not being just an overture for "way" to go rather than a "Bolton" symphony. Lovely to see our attack from the back mandate getting such a positive result, but I hope Dion and co take the mantle of the Richard Sneekes " Shoot" hit record and break the net by putting the laces through it occasionally.
All said, a brilliant start...

We are 3rd in the table due to away goals apparently.

Those are the gaps in the squad. An improved MJ who has the mobility to play CB and an alternative to Kane Wilson.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sun Aug 06, 2023 9:44 amIn pre match Marc Iles said he believes Evatt wants a new MJ destroyer type and a RWB.
That would allow us to let John and Sadlier go, if that's what we want to do and we have takers.

One win, and already getting ahead of ourselves? let's not sack the lads who helped get it. There'll always be takers for quality.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sun Aug 06, 2023 2:42 pmThose are the gaps in the squad. Those two weren't even on the bench, and don't seem to be convincingly buying into the manager's methods.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Sun Aug 06, 2023 3:39 pmOne win, and already getting ahead of ourselves? let's not sack the lads who helped get it. I would like us to replace them rather than be short-handed, so it depends on additions.
