newcastle are not very good when they have money in their pockets...boltonboris wrote:Aye.. £8 Million please!
I'd back them to offer us £30million and consider themselves £5mill up...

Re: January transfer window...
Blimey can we seriously be fleecing Toon for elmo?
Mental deadline day today.
I'm assuming Sturridge is being held up by Torres as well?
IF we lost Elmo we should probably pocket the cash rather than slap a 10:30pm bid in for someone from a small club like Burnley.

According to sportingo.com (who?), apparently a bid from the Geordies of £6mil will be enough to prize Elmo away from us before the window closes.
I'm off to start the car.

For those of you revving your engines, wanting to drive Elmander to Newcastle - who do you suggest we should play up front for the rest of the season?
Just curious....

6 mil for elmo in the circumstances would be fine. It's a bit like musical chairs tho and some fecker will get left lite of a striker come midnight. Sturridge is quick and opportunistic from what I have seen. Playing off a target man with wingers it may work.Anything to escape the static nature of our attack over the last 2 months would be a plus.
Puskas: sturridge and Davies. Doubt we'll be spunking any cash.Unless coyle had a couple of lower league lads lined up waiting for the doms to topple.

Always a good question.Puskas wrote:For those of you revving your engines, wanting to drive Elmander to Newcastle - who do you suggest we should play up front for the rest of the season?

You have to combine the totals for the next four of our leading goalscorers, to beat how many he's got on his own from open play...Anelka had one more than Elmander currently has, when he got transferred to Chelsea...
Mind, I'm still not sure about him Thought maybe he'd turned a corner - which he had - but he should have stopped turning about 2 months back.
Must be relying on Sturridge I guess.

As far as I can see, we still haven't signed Sturridge.Ianmooreslovechild wrote:6 mil for elmo in the circumstances would be fine. But even so - a kid with very little experience and a player of limited talent, whose form is shrinking back to the dark days of the last couple of years? Doesn't fill me with confidence...

One has 3 goals (from open play) this season, the other has 6 league goals in five years.Ianmooreslovechild wrote:6 mil for elmo in the circumstances would be fine. It'd be one step forward, three back. I can't see it in any case.
Re: January transfer window...
Yeah coz losing him for nowt in the summer and having no money to replace him would be better. Board will look at it thinking we're probably safe this year, get some money for him, use some of it in the summer for strengthening. Anything upwards of £5million given his contract situation and we should be ripping their hands off.

If the good people of Toon are willing to take Elmo, the least we can do is give them JLS aswell.
