Can we all please look at what mark Davies actually gives us and not at what he's got potential to give us?
Thanks.
Thanks.

He's forever injured, hardly contributes, is defensively cack and very rarely scores.
I'd much sooner have Danns.

Last season: the highest pass-completion rate (86%) of any Bolton player to play more than 45 minutes over the season. Not bad for someone usually played at No.10.Andy Waller wrote:Can we all please look at what mark Davies actually gives us and not at what he's got potential to give us?

One goal in 18...
Plus two whole assists!!
Who gives a toss about pass completion rate??

if you give a toss about assists - then you should also give something of a toss about the person who assists the assistor...

Don't think I can recall a start of a season where I've felt this pessimistic about our prospects. I can only imagine fans of Blackpool, Birmingham and Leeds are feeling something similar.
Here's to us doing it in the proper Bolton way. When the odds are seemingly stacked against us we surprise everyone. Cmon you white men

Well, me for one. It absolutely pisses me off how often we needlessly concede possession through sloppy passing. I don't ever see the other side give us the ball as often or as easily as we give it to them.Andy Waller wrote: Who gives a toss about pass completion rate??

This will be the third time I've watched a season opener away from home with Our Kid. First was an epic hammering of Leicester, a performance that will possibly never be surpassed for sheer unbelievableness (That one's for you Bobo) whilst the second was at Fulham, a match played at QPR which saw us go one nil up after a fifth minute penalty, only for us to then surrender and get completely paggered.
Saturday could go either way. I'm predicting nil nil.

But of his 86% complete passes (however many that may be) only 2 resulted in goals.Bruce Rioja wrote:Well, me for one. Doesn't that stand to reason that a lot of the balls played were safe, non progressive passes?
I know he's not going to score/assist every time he gets the ball but overall he doesn't contribute enough.
Take for instance Danns, In just over double the games, 6 goals, and 6 assists.
That's a hell of a lot better, i don't care what his pass completion rate was, he still had a better scoring and assist ratio which ultimately wins games.

Sounds more like an assumption.Andy Waller wrote:But of his 86% complete passes (however many that may be) only 2 resulted in goals. You asked what he brings. At least one provable thing he brings is better ball retention than anybody else at the club. Of course centre-backs can top that list by popping it sideways to each other all day, but that's clearly not what Mark Davies does. It's been noted by several on here that he's the most likely to "make something happen" (and other phrases) around the box; I simply added the fact that he passes better than anyone at the club. If you don't agree, that's fair enough, but "not giving a toss about pass completion" is worryingly close to delighting in ignorance, and something you might want to remind yourself of next time a clod hoofs it into touch.

The way to answer that Andy is to ask you the opposite question :Andy Waller wrote:Who gives a toss about pass completion rate??
Do you care when a player cock's up a pass ? If you do .... and I assume you do ... then you surely appreciate when someone doesn't tend to do that.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
