I don't think Vela is anywhere near ready for a game like this, personally.Loyal White wrote:What Coyle will play;

It's not ideal with his experience. But I'd still play 5 in midfield, which leaves either him, or Pratley tp partner Andrews / Davies.......

Re: Burnley vs Bolton
I think people are viewing Burnley on reputation from the fairly distant past. Looking at their squad, it's hardly filled with Paul Robinson's. Quite a number are either players who were there under Coyle, or players Coyle would've probably bought if he stayed there (Stanislas, Charlie Austin).
There's no need to protect anyone, and there's no reason why any of them would be off the pace. So it's the best possible side, which for me is...
--------------Bogdan------------
-Mears---Ream-----Knight--Ricketts-
--------M.Davies---Andrews--------
-Chungy--------------------Petrov--
-----------Eagles--------------------
--------------Sordell-----------------

Re: Burnley vs Bolton
For what it's worth as we're all guessing unfortunately I expect the team will be:
-------------Bogdan------------
-Mears---Ream----Knight---Ricketts-
--------M.Davies---Andrews--------
-Chungy--------------------Petrov--
-----------Eagles--------------------
--------------K Davies-----------------
If it was up to me, thank goodness it isn't, I'd play ;
--------------Bogdan------------
-Mears---Ream-----Mills--Ricketts-
--------M.Davies---Andrews--------
-Chungy--------------------Petrov--
--------Afobe ---Sordell---------------
A potential front 2 with pace, and also pace on either side of mid-field, which is something we've not had for a long time.
Mind you it's probably a good thing that I spent a lifetime teaching rather than managing a football team !!

Re: Burnley vs Bolton
Lonergan's welcome but he hasn't usurped Boggers as No.1.
Perm two from three centre-backs (Coyle does). Ricketts on the left – we need savvy, Alonso can wait - and probably Mears on the right, to prove his worth.
If (slaps forehead) CYL isn't ready to start, Eagles wide right. Petrov and Andrews pick themselves.
That leaves three spaces. I'd still like to see us try a 4-2-3-1 with Mavies in the hole but unless we fast-track Vela there's nobody to sit with Andrews - when Pratley has played, he's been further forward than Mavies, and I wonder whether that's the wrong way round despite Pratley's previous goalscoring record. Then again I wonder whether we can trust him there, either. None of the three current potential partners for Andrews are completely trustworthy, especially in a 4-4-2...which is why I'd lean toward having the extra body in midfield, with Sordell the front-runner (assuming Ngog isn't fit).
Like many, I suspect Coyle will start with KD, but I wouldn't be amazed to see him alone up in front of that extra body - probably Pratley. Either way, we do have a few new options to change things from the bench, what with Afobe and Wylde (and possibly CYL) itching to join in. Let's hope the options are used wisely, and successfully.

Where will this be shown? I see a crap load of premier league matches on at that time so not holding my breath for a stream.

Re: Burnley vs Bolton
It will be shown at turf moor, burnley. Not aware of any proposals for a 'beam back' at the reebok so its burnley on saturday afto, or highlights with manish and steve bastard clarridge at midnight.

Re: Burnley vs Bolton
Think the serious lack of TV appeal for the Championship is what hurts the most about the drop - we wont be on till around midnight, it'll show just the goals then get analysed by Claridge before the woman who pops up in the background pretends someone from Preston has sent in a text message at 12:30am...

Re: Burnley vs Bolton
To be honest, that was a key consideration when it came to buying a ST. Being able to watch games down the Conny and/or watching mahoosive highlights on Sky are no longer an option. Oh, and welcome to the sitesoulfuledge wrote:Think the serious lack of TV appeal for the Championship is what hurts the most about the drop.

I knew there was an upside to relegation. If it keeps folk out of Conservative clubs it cant be all badBruce Rioja wrote:To be honest, that was a key consideration when it came to buying a ST. Re: Burnley vs Bolton
Not 100% convinced either, but I don't like Mark Davies as one of two in centre midfield. It's a waste and leaves us exposed.Leyther_Matt wrote:I don't think Vela is anywhere near ready for a game like this, personally.
Coyle has never played Pratley in that role and with our failure to secure a defensive midfielder in the transfer market, we are left with Vela.
So him it is.
Re: Burnley vs Bolton
for me
--------Bogdan-----------
Mears-Knight-Mills-Ricketts
--------------------------
-----Pratley-Andrews-----
Chungy------------Petrov
-------Sordell-Ngog------
Because from what I heard about the barca friendly, pratley could be arsed to tackle and knight was solid.

I'd go with:
--------------Bogdan--------------
---Mears - Mills - Ream - Ricketts---
Chungy - Pratley - Andrews - Petrov
--------------Davies---------------
--------------Sordell---------------

coyle'll feck this up too, with his "its alright. we'll win next week instead" tactics.
me, i'd go
lonergan
riley knight mills rickets
lee pratley petrov
ngog afobe sordell
then sub sordell or afobe for andrews after half an hour , and sit on the eight goal lead.. or sub FatMark on if we want another four.

She's been binned off as cost-cutting for a shorter programme. Nothing against her, but good: I don't give a tin one what Dave in Devon thinks about things.soulfuledge wrote:Think the serious lack of TV appeal for the Championship is what hurts the most about the drop - we wont be on till around midnight, it'll show just the goals then get analysed by Claridge before the woman who pops up in the background pretends someone from Preston has sent in a text message at 12:30am...
