DOUGIE FREEDMAN: "We will be tactically set-up and organised to make sure Watford don't see a lot of the ball, whilst looking to spring a surprise going forward."

I look forward to witnessing, at first hand, the fulfillment of Douglas's latest statement of intent.

If beckford starts up top on his own we wil be lucky to see 40% possession

If he's combined with pratley they might as well throw another ball on for our lot

By Sunday it will be illegal to refer to that quote.

By Monday he will never have said it.

By Tuesday he will have said quite the opposite.

.... & then the following game's non quotes will begin to not be said.

Why are we even telling all and sundry what we plan to do? I mean, they don't disclose teams till near kick off, so why are we posting intent on the internet?

Should there not be a full stop after 'surprise' ?

So here we are on the eve of yet another season, we seem to everything set up apart from the elusive strikers. How we will do I have no idea, personally from what I have seen I would take the risk and play both Beckford and Wilkinson up front as Beckford definitely needs someone with him and neither look comfortable on their own. Dougie does not seem to fancy a Beckford / C Davies front line, Pratley looked more lost than usual playing off the front man last week. I have said it before but if he played Vela or Trotter in the current Medo role and pushed Medo forward (where he looks more comfortable), this could give us more coherence in midfield.
I am looking forward to the Watford game, we look to have a good following and I think we will be hard to beat, lacking in goals yes but I cannot see us conceding many (may be eating words come Saturday night). Watford have a sparkling front line so this will be a big test for the new look defence, Moxey will have to be more disciplined in defence. If we come away with a draw it will be a decent start as I see Watford pushing for a playoff place this season.
Lets stop the complaining and get behind the lads you never know this could be our season???

I agree. Furthermore, it should read "We will be set-up tactically..."

He comes round here with his split infinitives, the c*nt! :D

My prediction (for what it's worth)
0-0 up to the 3rd minute of extra time in the first half - then Watford score.
Dougie's half time talk: "well done lads - unlucky there - keep it exactly the same in the second half and we'll try to nick an equaliser late on"
3rd minute of second half Watford make it 2-0. Game plan shot to tatters.
93rd minute - Beckford scores from our first attack of the game. Dougie claims it was a close game.

Psst. It's not an infinitive :D.

Also, I think tactically is meant to govern organised as well, so if you wanted to go that way, 'We will be set-up and organised tactically'.

I've no idea why anyone things there should be a full stop after surprise either, though I get the feeling that's a joke I'm not getting.

nor is it split! :D

to split an infinitive he would have had to say summat like..

we aim to tactically be setup... which he didn't!
