Wouldn't mind us offering something to Tennai Watson. He's looked a decent L1 player to me from what I've seen (but I haven't watched loads of his match footage), think he'd offer decent competition at the RWB spot. Only just turned 26 and has good L1 experience.
MK went down with probably the best squad, in terms of talent, ever relegated from League One.

Almost impressive.

Do you rate any of the other lads they're releasing?
Edward Gyamfi, Lewis Johnson and Jack Davies are all kids, while Bradley Johnson is 36 and David Martin (son of Alvin!) is 37. So that narrows it down.

in the yawning gap between:
Sullay Kaikai - now 27, played for Palace at 19, kicked around ever since...
Josh McEachran - just turned 30. Once turned down Real Madrid. Oops.
Franco Ravizzoli is a 25yo Argentinian goalkeeper who somehow ended up playing for Eastbourne.

I think Kaikai and McEachran are in the same boat, really. Both really talented, but with bodies that let them down.

McEachran was important to the Dons side that finished 3rd last season. As that recycling player in the middle who ran their possession-based system.

Kaikai was the main creative outlet for promoted Blackpool a couple of seasons back.

I'd have had Kaikai when we first came up (I think we did actually try for him). I'm not sure I'd sign either now, but I suppose they'd be fairly Evatty sorts to get in. Lads with experience near the top end of the table and who want the ball constantly.

HUDDERSFIELD are in talks with forwards Danny Ward and Josh Koroma about new contracts. The pair are out of contract this summer along with youngster Luke Daley, who is also in talks with the club.

But Josh Ruffels, Tomas Vaclik and Romoney Crichlow are being released, as are Florian Kamberi, who had a short-term deal, and Rolando Aarons. Ruffels and Vaclik played key roles in the Terriers' Championship survival, while Crichlow is on loan at Bradford.

The club are also releasing Ryan Schofield, Matty Daly, Danny Grant, Joseph Johnson, Ernaldo Krasniqi, Josh Mazfari, Donay O'Brien-Brady, Michael Parker, Michael Roxburgh, Hakeem Sandah, Tyree Sanusi, Sam Taylor, Ajay Weston and Sonny Whittingham.
Think Crichlow is an LCB who was at Plymouth last season and has impressed at Braford this, but whether that's good enough, I dunno.

Right, anyway. That season's done with. Let's get this squad sorted out so we can win the league next season. Wouldn't mind another cup either - that was fun.

The season has been over for a couple of hours. Where's that retained list?

Is it a week after your last match, you have to announce it?

Four days after your last match for submission to the EFL, if you made the play-offs. Players had to be notified by today regardless, I believe. I don't think you *have* to make a public announcement (you didn't used to have to anyway), clubs just do; but it's a requirement to inform the players in writing. The EFL will announce all the lists formally early in June.

I Suspect Keiron Lee may be off. We need to improve on that position and he’s just not been that influential on the team sheet this season. Dixon and Isgrove will both go. Sheehan I’m not sure about - I’d like a 6 foot 2 version of him I think…

I think we can keep Sheehan or Lee, but not both. Of the two I'd keep Sheehan.

We need 3 more in the middle than we currently have under contract. At least two need to be new faces for us to kick on enough.

Sheehan, Moxon and a 10 would do me nicely.

Yeah, that'd certainly take us forward.

I think one issue would be that if the 10 got injured we'd still have issues, but Moxon would offset a lot of issues.

I'd also like Deji Oshilaja to come in as a squad option, covering both centre half and midfield. He's one of the "no brainer" signings for me, but that doesn't mean we have any interest in him.

This was all much easier when you could get away with "they're all shite, get rid of the fcuking lot." If it was a KS2 exam, there'd be articles on the BBC.

The MF is a problem area, because they're all decent (or in the case of some at least average) L1 on their day. But it often feels across the whole MF that they don't exert control in a lot of games. Possession, yes. Control, positive movement etc. no. You could probably make a case for retaining or shunting most of them about equally (IMO)

Looking at the contracts, MJ, Sheehan and Sexy are OOC. I'd probably let all three go.

For perspective we are looking at maybe needing another 9-10 points to have a realistic chance of top two in a fair few seasons in this league.

It wouldn’t be guaranteed - as it wasn’t enough this year but most years 90-91 would do it.

We went up in second with 86 a few years back.

So anyone saying we are miles off or it’s an impossible job is overstating it. Improve our results against the bottom 8 and we’d have a chance. Not saying we don’t have issues in replacing Traff and Bradley and strengthening but it’s far from needing to add an impossible extra number of points.

I think this is where we currently stand. Obviously we also have John and Sads under contract.

Can't move with the ball, though. I do wonder if we might want to take a dip at Adam Mayor.
