Among the poring and joking over the words, is it only me that sees something potentially notable here?
Bruce Rioja wrote:DOUGIE FREEDMAN: "We will be tactically set-up and organised to make sure Watford don't see a lot of the ball, whilst looking to spring a surprise going forward."

I look forward to witnessing, at first hand, the fulfillment of Douglas's latest statement of intent.
Now, I know our manager burbles with verbal diarrhoea, but it seems to me that "mak[ing] sure [the opposition] don't see a lot of the ball" is a different thing to last season's legendary "control the game without the ball" quote. Isn't it? Isn't the latter simply surrendering possession and stacking men behind the ball - a tactic which has come to the fore in Europe recently, with possession-heavy teams like Barcelona giving way to quick-countering hard-working diligentsia like Dortmund and (under Jupp Heynckes) Bayern - whereas this latest line of words seems to imply keeping hold of possession? Maybe we do need someone who can pass it sideways, after all... :D

I concur, with the exception of Hall for Feeney.
Aye, that could be a very good call.

Either way, I think young Douglas will be looking for nothing other than the point that we start with.
May the bridges I burn light your way

Yep. Cardiff with their new kit being made by one of Vincent Tan's companies, just to piss off their fans even more... not that they'll sell any of the red ones...

I think Dougie will ensure you see Trotter instead of Medo and Chungy instead of Pratley to get yet money's worth out of our big summer signing. It may well be shit. SF will tell us that's because we weren't 442, even though the 2 we ended up with weren't even at the Club early doors last season and aren't there now.

We might take a lead, then will bring a DM on for a AM, at which point we'll concede 2.

Happy Season's Eve, one and all.

That's probably the highest we will be this season.

Yep, after today we'll be in the bottom half for the rest of the season.

Come on D-Pratz. Also, Deeney is Watford capt. That could go either way!

Danns, Lee and Pratley behind C.Davies

Then Feeney, Trotter, Beckford and Wilkinson as attacking options from the bench... where's Hall?

Why is Pratley still here, never mind in the starting eleven! :(

I'm also surprised (though I shouldn't be) that Vela isn't even in the squad. Far better player than Pratley.

To disprove the internet binary view...

I think this team selection is total wank and expect Watford to spank us without breaking much sweat.

I don't see how Feeney isn't involved as an outlet on the break. And Danns presumably will be wide but for me should be central.

Ah well......bollocks!

I can see more sense from Medo/Spearing away from home. Just. I suppose we'll see. If we come away with a point, or grab a scrappy 1-niller (and that really seems to be the limit of our ambitions) then he's justified his selection. Its hard to see though.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Medo and Spearing is ok in a game like this. But there is no outlet. Danns should be central. And I don't get why Lee plays but whatever....
