Fair enough team.Tals-biggest-fan wrote:On to the game I think I'd go this team
Lonergan(if Bogdan isn't fit)
Ricketts - Dawson - Knight - Alonso (I wouldn't want to change a settled back four)
Spearing - Medo - Pratley
Eagles
C.Davies - Sordell
If he's up to it, I'd like NGog in there he's playing really well currently.
Eagles might be better off the bench but again depends on how LCY is feeling in terms of energy levels.

I think there's a case for Lonergan even if Boggers is fit. There's better Feng Shui between a benched Bogger's hair and Eagles's boots.BWFC_Insane wrote:Fair enough team.Tals-biggest-fan wrote:On to the game I think I'd go this team

Wetsuit with a clerical collar – I think that should your standard Sunday outfit. Might scare the kids, mind.

And a snorkel for good measure.

Yeah, I'd prefer Chungy and Ngog in the starting line up but they've both played a lot of games in a short space of time so would have no issue with them being rested.BWFC_Insane wrote:Fair enough team.Tals-biggest-fan wrote:On to the game I think I'd go this team

No one in their right mind would drop Ngog at the moment. We look a far better team with him in it and being able to press and presure their back four will be crucial on Saturday. Same team with Sordell or Cravies in for SKD for me.

Just a comment, but the Tower guys seemed to think Spearing and Medo as defencive mids were two hammers to knock one nail in, ie, too alike. They also commented a couple of times we were playing "narrow". Any views on that?. With Sordell fresh and Craig Davies reasonably so, either should work with N'gog. KD did his bit in letting them both have a rest, so we should be pretty strong up front. I'd still have him on the bench though for as-needed.

We are playing "narrow" and have been since Dougie started playing this "diamond" system.TANGODANCER wrote:Just a comment, but the Tower guys seemed to think Spearing and Medo as defencive mids were two hammers to knock one nail in, ie, too alike. In effect we play 3 central midfield players and one "winger". The winger is on their wrong foot so comes inside. It leaves room for the fullbacks on the outside.
It means we can play 2 up front without being overrun in midfield and seems to suit Pratley who plays on the right of the midfield but essentially as a third midfield player.
It was subtely different with Mark Davies in, as he played further forwards and from an attacking point of view made the system really work.
It's drawback at home in a tight game is the lack of width. However, I've never been convinced we carried two wingers well, especially and crucially NOT with 2 up front.
Dougie has said he doesn't believe that LCY or Eagles are actually wingers and I agree, wholeheartedly with that assessment. They both need more free roles than that to really thrive.
As for Spearing and Medo, they are quite similar. I'd not say that putting them both in is a bad thing. It gives you a lot of stability in midfield. Away from home it's the way forwards IMO. At home? I can see him sticking with them against Brighton just to break up their passing game. But I do think there is space for a more forward thinking player in there, in place of one of them sometimes.
Medo looked the part to me last night once he got going. Early days though.

I'm a little confused by that entire stat board. 13 to 0 on shots but the bar rests at 50%/50% ???thebish wrote:so, last night, Brighton had no shots at all???

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

That's a great bonus for our promotion bid. Not only does it help us in the short term for the game against them, but they will be far less potent without him in their side for the rest of the season. I believe Bridge and Vicente might be out for them too.ChrisC wrote:Craig Mikael Smith has been ruled out for the season for Brighton last night leaving them short up top.
Will be an interesting game. Both sides need the win and it could be all out warfare!
An early goal for us would be fantastic. Don't fancy a nail biter
I'm optimistic about this game. I think we'll beat them, and whatever the scoreline, if we do that, I'll be delighted.

I'd like to see a "Boldness be my friend" game for this one. We have the confidence and the ability, just need the finishing. An early goal could see us really play.
