Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:While I too despair at the backroom staff – and more pertinently the team performances they're designed to maximise - I have a question, or rather a nest of questions.

When we sacked Megson, how many of the backroom staff went with him (either resigned or sacked)? And how many went once caretakers Chris Evans and Steve Wigley were pushed aside for Coyle?

As BWFCi says, managers should be allowed to pick their own backroom team. I'm just wondering how many holes Coyle had to fill, and how many 'duplicates' were railroaded in – eg Cliff Roberts for Colin Harvey, arguably Phil Hughes for Fred Barber, etc...
Coyle wanted his entire team in. Which in some cases "Barber as an example" caused problems.

I honestly think there is a strong correlation with Barber not being as involved with our keepers (and now having left) and them going shit.

Barber was a top top, coach and since his influence has waned we've seen Jussi look shaky and Bogdan from a promising start look like he's never seen a cross in his life before.

Prestidge seems like a nice guy and fairly passionate about it all. He had a lot of stick for his tweets during the City away game so it seems he posts fewer little bits now. He did post a fairly extensive reply to a simple question I had a while back.

I've no idea on his ability versus his peers at other clubs, but at the same time I suppose his job/usefulness can only be what the manager lets it be.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I'm not saying Jussi needed someone to tell him what to do. But perhaps Barber was good at providing confidence and getting his mentality right?

Barber has been great for Northern Ireland. We have a very under average team but our goal keepers have always been more reliable and no doubt it's down to Barber

I hope whoever takes over next has the sense to get Jussi coaching here

Why? Is there any evidence to suggest he's a good coach? Or even that he wants to coach? :conf:

I'm hoping this occurs some time too early for Jussi to be available, even if he does plan on coaching later on.

Though yet again, it was as if Mark Davies wasn't playing.

I went to Rochdale 0-1 Burton Albion with a Dale supporting workmate. Fancied something a bit different, instead a got a team with no attacking ideas and a stand full of people calling for the managers head!

You have to admit our defence was solid enough. Never a sign of an attack.
