Going off past form, we'd have turned it down and accept far less a bit later!thebish wrote:clearly not in Clough's case!! I am sure if they had come in and bid £10mill - we'd have taken it... so presumably they haven't.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Thing is big clubs spend far more on just as unproven promise as Clough. He's only need to be at Man U/Chelsea/Arsenal for 2 seconds to get an England cap - that's how it works...thebish wrote:but I am far from sure that he has done enough over a long enough period to be deemed the total real deal...

We went and nicked a young prospect off a club that was in meltdown?
I'm aghast.

We didn't. He terminated his contract early to help the club out. Then we signed him.Enoch wrote:What!Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Nah, it was that Scottish lad that we nicked of Rangers when they had their meltdown.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:That's the badger!Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Tim ReamLost Leopard Spot wrote:Who was that youth we had some time back, the one who got homesick everytime he left his bedroom?

That went to the lad's agent. I'm fairly sure we'd have had a word to help his decision to help Rangers...Enoch wrote:We didn't even give them a fee!Jugs wrote:We didn't. D'yer mean Gregg Wylde? He now plays for Plymouth, so he's either got over his homesickness or he signed without consulting a map.
Wylde was also the man subbed off for Bolton loanee Oscar Threlkeld to make his Argyle debut. Which is interesting, considering Wylde's a left-winger and Threlkeld usually plays right-back.

Gary Fraser. He went on loan to Partick Thistle where he was banned for kicking an opponent 'repeatedly on the head and body'.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Who was that youth we had some time back, the one who got homesick everytime he left his bedroom?

Wasn't it the lad from Saints who was homesick? Andy Robinson iirc.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Nah, it was that Scottish lad that we nicked of Rangers when they had their meltdown.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:That's the badger!Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Tim ReamLost Leopard Spot wrote:Who was that youth we had some time back, the one who got homesick everytime he left his bedroom?

Bruce, if he (ED) got the adulation & praise for funding our European nights and rightly so, he is equally accountable & responsible for the demise and shambolic situation the club is now in. He has every right to walk away and stop pumping money in whenever he chooses, but to just turn the tap off without an alternative financial plan in place & then just stand back and let the club implode is unforgiveable in my book.Bruce Rioja wrote:What a complete bellend you are. Again everyone is entitled to an opinion in regards to ED (& PG) and it doesn't mean anyone is right or wrong - but I'm in
the Pru camp in regards to both ED & PG

What's the saying that a manager is only as good as his last result? It's gonna be the case with Eddie for some fans too. Can't blame fans for getting pissed off with him considering what a shambles the club is in.
In other news, Nixon says a Championship club is interested in Pratley. He's a player I wouldn't be arsed about leaving. No idea who is going to replace all these players like ...

Saw him scoring for Colchester yesterday. Maybe he really does perform better down south.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:HIM... that was him, really. Bedroom, outside, homesick... I need a lie down.Jugs wrote:Marvin Sordell.

Maybe. His first goal for the third-tier club was in Sheffield, but four of the other five have been at home (the exception being at Wealdstone).midlands exile wrote:Saw him scoring for Colchester yesterday. Andy Robinson from Southampton? Had a season-long loan, signed permanently, promptly left.Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Nah, it was that Scottish lad that we nicked of Rangers when they had their meltdown.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:That's the badger!Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Tim ReamLost Leopard Spot wrote:Who was that youth we had some time back, the one who got homesick everytime he left his bedroom?

Not sure Greggy Wylde was homesick, just not very good.
Threlkeld has been playing in Midfield for Plymouth on loan...

Wylde we chased for ages, took him on but weren't allowed to play him but then, once we were he was never picked. I don't think he got as much as a second for us.
Didn't we loan him to Bury ?
... & yes, the Southampton lad who expected to be a first teamed as soon as he signed. Left to a southern non-league club I think.
... & Sordell will forever be a mystery.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
