Political Correctness

Post by Bruno3 » Mon Nov 01, 2010 3:43 pm

As a distraction from the serious stuff my (somewhat warped) mind drifted off along the train of thought of "things I would have said at the reebok in the past without having to think about upsetting anybody".
For example:
That winger fairly bombed it down the touchline (terrorist overtones)
He tackles like a pussy (sexist or anti-cat)
He failed to cut out that cross (No-one's allowed to fail these days - it causes psychological scarring. Also religious overtones)
That was a queer decision by the man in black (Gay / lesbian and racist)
Robbie Savage is a little c*nt ( Anti the vertically challenged and sexist)
I fancy a pint (Anti Europe)

I must be bored

Political correctness considerations are lifted for anything involving Robbie Savage.

I doubt anyone would bat an eyelid at any of those, and I doubt anyone has ever tried to stop anyone from saying any of those things at the reebok or, indeed, at any other ground.

so - carry on.

Hoboh will prove you wrong when he searches his massive Harriet archive... She's sat him on the naughty step for saying half of them...

Waving the red season ticket books at Burnden when an opposition player was sent off accompanied with shouts of off, off, off. However the shout changed slightly when a Wimbledon player was sent off.

Malteaser for a head.

If we're avoiding any anti-Europe terminology, surely the 6 yard box must be renamed the 5 metres 48.64 centimetres box.

Not just politically incorrect but just plain factually incorrect, I remember being under the big screen for the Marseille game in UEFA Cup a few years ago, and some younguns were trying to start up "10 German Bombers" to chant at the travelling fans as some sort of insult!

im not sure that was aimed as an insult, the song was sung alot on the away trips in europe, especially in pubs! i remeber the night before the Marseille game in some irish bar on the marina, that song went on & on for ages!

Has it gone mad yet?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Well what I meant was that, since entering this world in 1951, things have changed so much that things I thought I knew to be true back in the 50s and 60s are now so blurred by a combination of changes in peoples attitudes, new historical evidence, Human Rights Legislation (without any thought of "Human Responsibilities Legislation", and the inevitable PC brigade that I'm now absolutely certain that I'm not sure if there is ever going to be the vaguest possibilty of my ever being able to understand anything for certain ever again.
Does that simplify things?? :D

no! 8) - presumably the first post was not a serious set of examples of this?

give us an example of summat you can't now recognise or understand because of the "pc brigade" or "human rights legislation"

what did you think to be true in the 1960s that isn't now?

When a few jars have been sunk I like to sneak in a bit of P(in)C when shouting stuff.

Nothing too offensive, for example: When a player is underperforming and the majority of fans are bellowing "GET HIM OFF" I like to replace "Get" with "Suck" for a little bit of personal amusement!

Oh how I giggle!
Give a hand to my band… Sexual Chocolate

They play so fine don't you agree!
