The shot was on target, nice and low, but a top save by their young keeper.Spartan wrote:Holden should have scored, two yards out! we're smashing em.
That was a top first half... commentary complaining about Toon giving the ball away, but it's only because of our pressuring the ball. I've never seen a team press so hard for a whole half, and it means when we win the ball, we are in their half of the pitch. Of course it exposes us occasionally, but who gives a feck when it's this enjoyable to watch!
The two lads in the middle have been huge, and Taylor and Lee are involved in everything. Elmander looks like barging through for another, and SKD is SKD.
2-0 is no safe bet though as previous matches have shown... COYW!

Looked good so far.Knight handling Auntie Carol well tho they got round the back a couple of times.Shame Holden didn't finish from Taylors cross.Lovely play by Elmander to leave Taylor in space.Ref can't have seen the Williamson headbutt but I expect the FA will have a look.
Need another two to be safe of course

Superb half time score. Build on it in the second half could mean a hatful for us. Also Brum beating Chelski, Blackpool 2-0 up and Scum beating Wigan which is a pity but keeps the pie-eaters out of the frame for now. All we need is the Spammers to get thrashed by Liverpool to keep them down there or Liverpool to lose to keep them below us. "This is looking exceedingly good," said Mr Kipling.

They coulda had a couple with some better final balls into the box. We're doing to them what they did to Arse but the high line does leave us vulnerable and they have the players to make us pay. Long way to go yet and we need to maximise our remaining opportunities.

Frm BBC site so perhaps the Barcodes were a touch lucky more than skilfull.Perhaps it isn't game over at the Reebok. A long throw is inadvertently knocked into his own box by Stuart Holden and Andy Carroll takes advantage with a poked finish to maybe get Newcastle back in this one.
