reserves v Man City

Post by Riviman » Tue Feb 08, 2011 9:54 pm

Game tonight at Leyland ended 1 - 1 Tom Eaves scoring after 5 mins following a run down the right by O'Halloran,he pulled it back to Eaves on the edge of the 18 yard box who smacked it into the bottom corner.City equalised just after half time, a header from a corner (Bunn), they then had a man sent off (60 mins), straight red for a double footed challenge on Obadeyi, but despite a number of chances particularly a header and a shot by Eaves it ended 1-1.
Team:
Lainton,Riley,Dennis, Eckersley,Alonso, Blakeman, Vela,Ward,Eaves,O'Halloran,Obadeyi.

Sad note - Tom Eckersley carried off in second half with a leg injury, let's hope it's not serious.
Players of note ;
Alonso, great game.
Blakeman
Vela
Eaves
But
Obadeyi was his usual wasteful self.
I was talking to a Middlesbrough scout who was impressed with Alonso - no surprise there and Tom Eaves. He'd seen Eaves at oldham last year and couldn't believe the change in him from and and I quote " fat slow lazy unfit player" to a "fit skillful and hard working striker" - well done the backroom boys and Tom Eaves.
I feel reborn !!!! No more confussion

Alonso seem's to be doing brilliantly, what I saw of him at the York game few week back he looked solid enough and just lacked a touch of confidence/match fitness but a real prospect. Tom Eaves sounds to be doing mint as well, just quick question on Danny Ward? Always looks a class act but any idea what our first team plans are regarding him?

Vela looks a real prospect at only 16. Definitely one for the future.

DANNY Ward and Adam Blakeman look set to go out on loan after helping Wanderers reserves draw with Manchester City.

The transfer window reopened yesterday and Plymouth boss Peter Reid and Nottingham Forest assistant Julian Darby were among the crowd at Leyland’s County Ground to cast an eye over potential targets.

Striker Ward, whose loan spell at Coventry was cut short through injury in October after just five games, and the versatile Blakeman seem certain to go out in search of regular first-team football.

Is that the old pals act, or is it just "two ex Bolton players = imminent loan deal"?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

And a sensible answer- he plays in central midfield and certainly for a 16/17 year old didn't look out of depth in the reserves. A great prospect for the future.

I didn't know the transfer window opened for lower league clubs that explains why there were so many scouts in the stand.

It'd likely be him going to Forest tbh, with Blakeman going to Plymouth.

Send them both to Rochdale - they play nice stuff and they wouldn't have to move house.

Or Preston.

Do not send them to Sheffield Wednesday.
They're dirty, they're filthy, they're never gonna last.
Poor man last, rich man first.
