The Superwhite Fairy.

Post by coffeymagic » Wed Oct 26, 2011 8:45 am

I'd love to see some statistics that show how many managers lives or clubs losings streaks or players goal-droughts have been ended thanks to a wonderful visit from the Wanderers.

Like a magical pixie throwing points and goals about it seems that in their hours of need all the opposition need is to check the fixture list and see when we're coming to town.

It's not just Arshavin's first goal in ten games I've lost count of the number of times I've heard 'that's so and so's first win in .......' or 'X hasn't scored since.....' or 'X was facing the sack until a win against Bolton at the weekend....'

Look at Spurs the other year. Rock bottom, 'Appy 'Arry under fire first win of the season against? Liverpool under Hodgson - fecking Blackburn beat them yet we make 'em look like world beaters and keep him in his job for another week.

Why can't we twist the knife? Why can't we kick a team when they're down? What is it at this club that makes us a soft touch?

Grrr.

We're just very, very nice people.

FWIW every club thinks that about themselves

I'm sure they THINK it I'm sure we ARE it.

United fans don't sit around going 'typical' every time the vidi=printer starts blipping away.

There's us and possibly Tim Henman fans.

Every smaller club thinks it happens to them. I'm not sure, by the way, how Redknapp was 'under fire' given it was his first game in charge. Get longer than that at Real Madrid. Of course we remember when these things happen, because people don't tend to point out that that isn't X's first goal in ten, but he rather has an average scoring rate. It does mean it feels like we like helping out charity cases though, I agree. Can't agree that we actually do any more than others.

Maybe you should change your username to C++

indeed - this is one of the smaller club universal truths...

another is - "we are always last on MOTD"

another is - "lawro always predicts us to lose"

There are times where we've stuck the knife in. Sending Leeds down for one.

Oh aye that was funny*. And doing it to West Ham (twice?) and we did put the first nail in Sounessesessess coffin at Liverpool but I'm still certain that no team gives it away so easily than the Supers.

We should register ourselves as a charity.

*In fact seeing that little Leeds fan crying his eyes out a full time will be a memory I will treasure for ever.

We didn't 'technically' send Leeds down.

For all intents and purposes we did though, and that game was awesome.

we didn't technically send west ham down either - but I think they still believe we did! we were just one of the second to last nail in the coffin!

Didn't Roy Keane leave after we did Sunderland 4-1?

Am I misremembering a 4-1 drubbing of Ipswich (Fredi Bobic hat-trick) effectively sealing Ipswich's fate?

Indeed - an Ipswich player (or the manager) said they went down because they lost twice against Bolton.
