30 MILLION POUND PLUS ROBBERY

Post by Milburn53 » Tue May 15, 2012 2:39 am

I just posted this on our Northern Ireland fan website... And thought you guys might have an opinion.......

On Sunday Bolton lost their place in the Premiership, because of one wrong decision (and one doubtful decision), by the referee.
Had either gone their way, they'd be still in the top division next season.
Every tv viewer could clearly see that the Bolton goalie had the ball firmly between his hands, before Walters bashed both Bogdan and the ball over the line.
But the ref clearly didn't see it and decided wrongly to award a goal. .. A decision which will cost Bolton millions.

My point is that a huge fuss is being made about 'goaline technology', not to mention the cost.
How many times a season would this be needed? ... Very few.. Certainly single figures.
Yet how often are there wrong calls by referees... Almost every match... Many of which affect the result.

Surely it's time to end this lottery and either introduce the ref being able to call for a TV judgement, as in rugby, if he's in doubt, in the Premiership. Or at least add the Euro 'Official beside the goal' idea.
Either of these would also 'cover' the 'did it cross the line' disputes and at minimal cost.

BTW I'm not a Bolton supporter... I just think it's a crying shame that any club should suffer so badly, because of a refereeing blunder, which could have been corrected in seconds.

As any QPR fan will tell you, if goal-line technology was in place we'd probably already be down since their opening goal against us was not given despite clearly crossing the line.

I also can't complain about the first Walters goal. Yeah, it was a foul, but we had been playing horribly and that spurred us on to score two fluke goals. If Coyle had locked down the win we might have been thanking Walters.

It's a 38 game season. We can't blame one or two decisions for what has been 9 months of failure.

Agree with HP.

Except that QPR's ghost goal at ours came from an incorrectly awarded corner, and Cisse's goal was offside.

Its at times like this we need Big Sam stats to prove whether we were f*cked over for the season or not.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Over the course of the season you can correct injustices. Last game of the season you can't. We should've staved off relegation prior to the last game but there's no doubt the referee played a massive part in relegating us on the day.
