Wasn't he at West Ham with Zola aswell?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

And Mourinho at Chelsea, won plenty there. Winning the league cup with Liverpool and keeping west ham up might not be as prestigious, but they're significantly better achievements than the current coaching staff have on their CV's.Lord Kangana wrote:Wasn't he at West Ham with Zola aswell?

Massive budget at Liverpool, won a Carling Cup, leading to the sacking of manager. West Ham survived by the skin of their teeth, with the manager being sacked.
It seems his only "success" is being coach for a man who wins everything, everywhere with seemingly limitless budgets. I'm not surprised he has better achievements on his CV. Just not in the environment we are in.
Not really convinced why he has such a good rep.

Don't think you can really judge a coach by the results either way. Too many other factors....Lord Kangana wrote:Massive budget at Liverpool, won a Carling Cup, leading to the sacking of manager. West Ham survived by the skin of their teeth, with the manager being sacked.

there has to be a plus side of having LSL back at the club - doesn't there? can't he put in a word?

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I wonder if installing Sammy Lee as assistant has been considered. Surely he remembers enough from the Big Sam days to make us a little harder to beat.

As I mentioned in the West Ham thread I am sort of hoping they don't go up so Sam gets sacked, setting up a glorious reunion.steviewander wrote:I would definitely have Big Sam back. Anyday. Anyone with me?!
I was as pissed as anyone over the way he left us but after what's we've gone through since that day, all would be forgiven if he came back to the Reebok.

Nope
Too exspensive and i think the garty and sam friendship is finished so no chance of happening

I don't think he'd be too expensive. Not when you consider the cost of relegation.plymouth wanderer wrote:Nopesteviewander wrote:I would definitely have Big Sam back. Anyday. Anyone with me?!

But you're right about the Gartside/Sam partnership. Gartside would rather get us relegated than admit a mistake.
Actually, that's what he's just done, isn't it?

Re: Are we an "unprofessional" professional football club?
He would want his 300 back room staff back plus about 35 senior players who would be on alot more than we could afford not to mention most of them would probably be on the wrong side of 30
Nothing wrong with that setup but its not good for a club of our size and spending power that's half of the reason where in the trouble now
Im afraid that ship has sailed
Still the best manager the club has ever had tho
