Re: Trotters pics
Sorting through some old stuff today I found the BN's souvenier Memories of 58 paper.
We won both the F.A Cup and the Charity Shield that year. Team is, back row: Hartle, Higgins, Edwards, Hopkinson,Hennin, Banks (and Bert Sprostron)
Front row: Birch, Stevens, Lofthouse, (Bill Ridding) Parry Holden, Gubbins. (Ralph Gubbins didn't play in the final but had a great game in the semi, so was included).
Bottom pic is players and cup arriving on the Town Hall Square. (I was in there somewhere in front of the Cenotaph. It was absolute madness) Happy days.

The odours of steam engines, Woodbines, beer fumes, pies, crisps, hotdogs, gasworks, even pxss, were all part of the delights of a visit to the hallowed ground at one time.

Though driving through Irlam wasn't the brightest move ever. Imagine them rolling through Farnworth ??

Re: Trotters pics
Well, if Mr Ridding over the following few years had signed Bolton fan, never givena trial, Roger Hunt ... Boltonian, trialed but rejected, Alan Ball. Didn't turn up for his trial becasuse Bury got in first, Colin Bell and had managed Frannie Lee properly and so been able to keep hold of Wynn Davies .... added to not having been gazumped on Duncan Edwards a couple of years previously ..... maybe we would have.BL3 wrote:Same homecoming from the newsreels: http://www.britishpathe.com/video/the-c ... ery/bolton" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

From what I've been told the team boarded the bus at Salford Station and travelled along Bolton Road, Irlams O'Th' Height (different from Irlam) and it's here they were ambushed.BL3 wrote:...earlier on in the journey to the Town Hall Square, the team coach was pelted as it travelled through the Man Utd territory of Irlam:
