Now he's gone, who's next?
I know we've had a thread or two speculating on possible replacements, but they often got sidetracked into "but should we sack him?" so I thought the time was right to start afresh.

Mick "Mick" McCarthy (or Keane)(or a rising Lower Leaguer)(or somebody from abroad but not that tosser Benitez).

Get them town hall steps cleared the arse is coming out.
I think you could have odds of half an infinity to 1 of this happening.

i have to say - even though I know less than nowt about german managers - I'd be tempted to look there...
going round the same merry-go-round of usual suspects depresses me a bit..
also - I wonder if the usual suspects are already a bit too well-known by the players from previous clubs or having been watched over the years - and may already be "tainted" in some players' eyes...
maybe it's better to bring in someone old and wise enough with some experience - who has enough gravitas to inspire respect and none of the familiarity that breeds contempt...
I'm NOT in the "anyone is better than coyle" club.

Re: Now he's gone, who's next?
Neil McDonald was an interesting suggestion.
Re: Now he's gone, who's next?
Dougie Freedman would be my choice , had 3/4 years now at a cash strapped club , gets his team playing nice football and seems to get the best out of his players !!!! young and ambitious but with more potential than coyle ever had and would not cost a fortune !!!! but i have a feeling it will be big Mick !!!
Re: Now he's gone, who's next?
If they play 4-5-1, they'll be an improvement. So not an old-fashioned type like McCarthy, or Curbishley who has been out of the game for years. I'd gamble on some up and comer. I wouldn't mind an ex-player from the more recent generation. I'd take Hierro, with Campo as his assisstant for my own amusement.

But why would he leave a club where he's a legend and, let's be honest, are we even considered a step up from Palace any more?dj tuncay wrote:Dougie Freedman would be my choice , had 3/4 years now at a cash strapped club , gets his team playing nice football and seems to get the best out of his players !!!! young and ambitious but with more potential than coyle ever had and would not cost a fortune !!!! but i have a feeling it will be big Mick !!!
Someone from abroad for me. Fresh thinking, fresh ideas and no preconceptions about the players.

I think someone will see the squad we have and fancy it as a good chance to get us in the prem and further their career.

Gary Neville??? Is he really a contender? He's earning loads-a-wonga as a pundit supremo, why would he swap that?
Then again, I suppose the question being asked is "who would you like to see", so as you were; but he'd never be my choice purely from the smell of ManUre that still clings.

It isn't about formations. It is about players. If you were in football you'd know thatBeefheart wrote:If they play 4-5-1, they'll be an improvement. Karl Robinson at MK Dons is being touted on the Mail for some reason.
