I know that nobody agreed with me last time I said it - but... surely it'd be tempting for5 someone over there who thinks he's hit a glass ceiling....
either that or an ace german!
But seriously, any specific Germans in mind?

It's got to be Ferguson from Peterborough, timing is right (he's pissed off with Fry) and he is far and away best manager in this division...we'll get loads of Man U loanees too

Nixon's Mirror report (usual caveats apply) says Gartside wants a young manager able to work on a low budget.
But note that the poll responses are your choice, not Gartside's.

That's Mick "Mick" "Old Man" McCarthy out of contention then.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Nixon's Mirror report (usual caveats apply) says Gartside wants a young manager able to work on a low budget.

Re: Now he's gone, who's next?
why oh why, does Alan Curbishley get added to these list he has been out of a job for 4 years, he clearly isnt interested in being a manager, especially at anywhere above the m25.
he will not be our manager.
he will not be our manager.

Mick Mccarthy, just for the humour. If we're gonna collapse lets at least have a man who gives better interviews than Coyle! (and more amusing ones than anyone we've had)

Where's Mollie when you need her/him? Surely she/he knows?

I think you may well be right, but not everybody does – hence his inclusion. I've had to draw lines in the sand in some places (Holloway, Redknapp) but I don't think it's improbable that Curbs is a contender.n035209 wrote:why oh why, does Alan Curbishley get added to these list he has been out of a job for 4 years, he clearly isnt interested in being a manager, especially at anywhere above the m25.

Re: Now he's gone, who's next?
Weird, because....a young manager on a low budget is almost guaranteed to equal a lower league manager used to working with journeymen professionals.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Nixon's Mirror report (usual caveats apply) says Gartside wants a young manager able to work on a low budget.

I don't see how it necessarily therefore benefits manager or players if he's suddenly plunged into the relative big time with players far more precious and egotistical than he will be used to dealing with. Same from the players point of view, their attitude might be one of 'who the f*ck are you'
I think a middle ground is better. Not a dinosaur but someone whose very name or reputation requires respect even if it's not necessarily previously for management.
Re: Now he's gone, who's next?
I wouldn't be so sure. We're probably one if the higher paying managerial jobs in the footballing world. Seriously. There must be so many talented guys out there. We've gone with Phil's golfing buddies for a while now and it's not worked well. Time for a new approach.midlands exile wrote:We've got limited options

I literally have no idea, no names have really jumped out at me.
I've gone for Neville just for the sole reason that he could defend and might be able to teach our defenders something!

Re: Now he's gone, who's next?
I like the idea of Solksjaer, ish...but he didnt want to uproot his family in May for the Villa job, i dont see that situation having changed.
Re: Now he's gone, who's next?
At the risk of being absolutely slated I would definitely consider Gary Neville. If he demonstrates that he knows what the f*ck he's doing, he's worth the risk. He'd command the respect of the players, he'd be straight-talking with the fans, he'd demand fitness and commitment and his reputation might help us in the transfer market. I'd expect he has high standards and learned a thing or two from Red Nose over the years.
