Have all the clueless back-room staff gone with him?

Mick McCarthy has done a similar job before.thebish wrote:so who IS "sound enough, sensible enough and pragmatic enough"?BWFC_Insane wrote:Well sadly he certainly did not fit that criteria.thebish wrote:which is not the same as "not coyle"!BWFC_Insane wrote:My only criteria now is someone sound enough, sensible enough and pragmatic enough to get us back into contention for promotion.
It was about getting rid in the first place and then assessing.
As has Billy Davies.
I'm not saying as a long term answer, but in the shorter term....maybe.
It depends on what the criteria they are looking to fill are.
If its a long term appointment and they want a similar philosophy as Coyle, then I have absolutely no idea.
But like I say I'm not sure we're in the position for that now.

I would go for Keith Hill but how about someone like Mick McCarthy as manager with someone like David Lee alongside him the u18 side are doing well with him in charge so why not have an assistant with a view to him making the step up therefore sorting out the short-term and the long term at the same time

There's a few folk suggesting Micky Mellon. Haven't Fleetwood been bankrolled? I mean, Mellon may be an excellent manager *as well* but he's certainly had a sizeable budget to work with.jonnycooper wrote:I would like to see Micky Mellon given the chance. He,s at the same stage as Big Sam was when he came to us and he did,nt do too badly.

Maybe we can get someone cheaply with a decent bonus for promotion.

Let's be realistic. We're going to struggle to get someone. Same as Wolves did last season.
Only difference is that they're a shit club with no money who needed a man to move them away from the bottom of the Premiership, whereas we're a shit club with no money who need a man to move us away from the bottom of the Championship.

Plus there wasn't exactly a stampede of candidates queueing up last two times we were looking for a manager.

Re: Now he's gone, who's next?
I voted for "A rising lower-league boss" but didn't mean that to be Micky Mellon in particular.
Ideally we should be looking long term, however, if someone does remarkably well then in all likelyhood we'll be looking for a new manager again when a bigger club comes calling. It needs to be the best man for the job now.
A friend of mine who has connections within the game has suggested that it's McCarthy's if he wants it, although how true that is I am unsure.
I'd be looking for someone who has consistently overachieved on a budget. I wouldn't mind Keith Hill, especially as he seems to be able to improve talented players who have failed elsewhere, but I don't think there is a particular stand out candidate unfortunately.
One thing, I'm noticing a lot of fans saying Redknapp... What planet are these people on?

I don't think we'd get him, but Di Canio is very much in the mould I am looking for.

Not sure how good his sources are, but a Red mate has just text me to say he's hearing Mike Phelan is being lined up for the job.

Phelan to us and then Gary Neville can insert himself as SAF's right hand man.

And it's not like they'd need compensation, he may even come with a dowry and a few playersohjimmyjimmy wrote:Interesting.Leyther_Matt wrote:Not sure how good his sources are, but a Red mate has just text me to say he's hearing Mike Phelan is being lined up for the job.
